SOURCE: Water not heating

It sounds like your inline heater has stopped working. The only way to test it is to drain the water back out, remove the inline heater, and hook power to it to see if it heats up.

If it doesn't you can get one at a discount supply house (like Home Depot or Lowes) for less than $150.

SOURCE: I have a 2004 great lakes hot tub with a balboa

check to see that the flow switch is working properly, it may not have enough flow on low speed to allow the heater to turn on. Make sure your filter/s is/are clean. If you have a pressure switch instead of a flow switch, it may need to be adjusted or replaced.

Jacuzzi hot tub will not reach temp pumps do run?

If your hot tub is running but NOT heating then you need to look at a couple of things.
First, on the topside, is the heat indicator light on?
If it is on and the tub is not heating then the temp sensor or the high limit sensor is not working and need to be replaced.

Random multiple misfire code. Cat gets glowing red hot. Sluggish lack of power/acceleration

Combining the hot cat converter and the missfire code, I would lean toward a fuel problem. Too lean or pressure too low.
If it was an ignition problem the cat would usually not be hot.
If the exhaust was stopped up, you would not usually get the multiple missfire issue. Just lack of power.
It could be a leaking EGR or other vac problem, and a dirty fuel filter too.

I got in the tub one night after the filter had been cleaned out by the roomate who kept the tub running. That night the temp read 94 but was set to 99. Then the OH light came on with Balboa topside...

at pump housing is an upper/lower bleeder ( about 1/2 inch bolt ) unscrew the bolt letting air out until water runs out than tighten turn on unit and loosen bleeder again bleed out any leftover air tighten

QCA Opal hot tub display reading OH.

The tub experienced an overheat situation. This may be due to leaving the t stat turned all the way up and not monitoring or the hi-limit sensor is defective. The hi-limit sensor will shut down the heating cicuit if temp gets above 105 D optimally.the fact that the heater light is on is a good sign that things are working at this point.Whether or not a suitable temp(100-103 D) will be arrived at is to be seen. If spa heat kicks off before set temp is reached then replace hi-limit sensor.

2001 Kia Optima over heating

I figured this out and fixed it on my 2001 Optima. Mine was an electrical problem, not an overheating problem. The problem shows up when there is a heavier than normal load on the electrical system. For most of us, this is when the air conditioner is running full-blast on a hot summer day. However, it was also occuring when I ran the heater full blast. The heater running full-blast should have lowered the temperature, not raise it. So I tested the coolant temp while the gauge was showing it overheating. The coolant temp was not increasing, but the gauge showed that it was. It is caused by a bad ground connection. Another test you can do to see if your problem is the same as mine is this. As soon as the engine is showing overheating, pull over, park the car and turn off the engine. Immediately start the engine again and see what the temp gauge shows. If it still shows hot, you'll know you've really got overheating coolant. If it goes back to normal range, you'll know it's just a bad ground connection. Turning off the engine eliminates the resistance in the electrical system that has beeen building up and causing an erroneous high temp reading.

To fix: Either find and clean ground connections throughout the vehicle until it fixes it, or do what I did. A mechanic at the Kia dealer showed me this. I ran a new wire from an empty bolt-hole on the top of the engine to a bolt into the frame behind the engine. I only added a 6 inch wire and a new bolt into the top of the engine. The bolt into the frame was already there, so I just removed it, put the wire under it, and replaced the bolt. It created a redundant ground that prevented the build-up of resistance that caused the erroneous temp reading. It was a 5 minute fix and it has never done it again. Kia knows about this problem and they put out a post to their shops on how to fix it.

Hot Surface Light stays on

Our success has been to heat the elements to hot for about 5 minutes. Then let cool to reset temp sensor.

Can cause the problem by turning a burner on for a short period of time
