Check the remote control for its infrared emission. Check it with fresh batteries. Check it by pressing all the keys. You can detect the presence of infra-red emission from the remote control, using a cell-phone camera. If you wish to get more details about how to check a remote control, please visit this site. One among the posts has details about it. Surf the site with patience. In some cases, the remote control might need to clean.

Can you help to fix my tv UA40JU5900JXZK SAMSUNG U.. IF I USING MY REMOTE TO PRESS SMART BUTTON AND MENU IT WONT WORK, but another button will work!

This remote is a general remote sold by Samsung, there is a process Samsung uses to troubleshoot.

1. change to new batteries, say one of the two batteries is dead, some buttons may work.
2. did you try another remote? I.E. universal remote?
3. Order a remote, they're cheap.

The firmware inside the tv usually will not fail one or two "buttons" if the failure is all functions then it could be the TV IR sensor.

But ... before you do anything, hard reset the tv by unplugging it, I'd wait a minute, plug back in, test again.

If all else fails, buy another.. this remote by the way has been on their TV's as one even the techs carry for the fancy new TV's.. why? because with this remote you can access secret menu settings on the QLED, etc... so you have a really good remote, find the part number and don't let it fool you if it references a TV that is not your TV... like I said it is a pretty universally used remote for Samsung.

Make sure you are hitting the right menu button. Samsung thinks they are dummy proofing their tvs. You cant get to anything they do not think is pertinent at the time. Make sure you are hitting the write button on the remote. Try to hit menu on the tv and see if that works.

Zenith advanced system 3, can't access video 1 or 2

I just got the TV for free with no remote and had the same problem.  The solution I found is to connect two devices that are feeding live signal (a VCR, DVD player, or game console) to the RCA connector input on the back of TV for Video 1 and Video 2.  I then used the first menu option which I accessed by using the Menu key on the front of the TV and Adjust and Select buttons to scan for channels and detect the band for the reciever to use.  After doing this I changed the setting away from "Fixed" (I forget which setting) and turned the TV on and off.  I then found that by pressing Menu several times I would get new menus.  Before I had done that scan with more devices attached to the other ports I didn't get any other menus.  I also discovered that depending on which devices I had connected I would get a Picture in Picture feature.  It would have its own menu to select its source, but I would lose that feature if I changed the device topography of my setup.
