JUST a word of CAUTION...

WRITE PROTECTION ... is usually shipped
with WRITE ENABLED.

IF it is WRITE PROTECTED... you may want to check
for CHERISHED PICTURES, Treasure Maps...
SECRETS of the UNIVERSE... original intellectual property,
WEDDING MOVIES... (etc.)

It is not something that is typically used
and there might be SOMETHING WOTH PROTECTING...

I'm just saying... ASSUME nothing.

Unlock the card.
On an SD card there is a switch at the side which can be moved to protect the card contents (locked) or permit writing to the card (unlocked). Just move this to the unlocked position.

My sony cyber shot camera suddenly is saying that my Lexar 4GB CompactFlash Premium Series 80x needs to be formatted. What about my pictures?

You might have locked memory card. If not first try to connect memory card to PC with memory card reader and try to copy your stuff... then after you take all stuff try to format it.

On the display it say card locked i got a new car and say the same , i can't not take any photos or record video thanks .

For the 'card locked' problem, first check yourSD card. There is a switch on the side of the card. When theswitch is on unlock position, you can format, take pictures or delete pictures. But if the switch is in the lock position, you can not do the above operations. The camera will also indicate 'card locked' error.

My Canon SD200 says "card locked"

Remove the SD card from the camera. Slide the tiny switch on the side of the card to its other "unlocked" position. Reinsert the card in the camera. But if you've already tried this, see this link for additional things that you can try.

Says card is locked but it is not

If there are any pictures on the card, I would back them up onto a PC and then try formatting the card in your camera to see if that helps. You should be able to read off the card even though your camera wonlt write to it.

Samsung digimax4010 memorycard locked cant take pictures

To fix this, remove the SD card from your camera. Look on the side and you will find a little switch. One end of the switch says locked the other end says unlocked. Move the switch from locked to unlocked. Replace it in your camera and turn it back on.

Thanks for coming to FixYa and fee free to rate my solution.

Camera says card locked

1) Try to unlock it by the lock/unlock switch on the side of the memory card.

2) If step 1 does not work replace memory card with new card.

3) If step 1 & 2 do not work the problem is internal (inside the camera). Go to www.ecasiorepair.com to get a quote for repair. Cost will be anywhere from $39-115 to fix it (if not under warranty). You could even ask if this is a defective camera (lemon) they might even fix it for free? I've seen this issue with the Casio a lot.

Card locked

There's a little yellow switch on the left side of your memory card labled "lock" with an arrow pointing down. Push it up. Note: If it doesn't work right away, try uploading all your photos to your computer and then dumping them off of the card.  Push the switch up again and it should start taking pictures again.
