I was encountering the same problem and solved it simply. Using a clean pencil eraser, I gently cleaned the contacts on the battery and the camera where they connect. The camera communicates with the battery, and if it cannot talk to it, it shuts down.
Be sure that you keep them clean, and if you wish to keep this from happening, put a small (very small) amount of petroleum jelly on the contacts, to keep the air from corroding them.

Not sure what you mean by won't turn on.
If you mean no dial tone when you take it out of the cradle, I have run into this. The solution is to unplug the power cord and then plug it back in which resets the unit.

there is a reset button under the thin frame around your screen. remove the frame by prying it up with your fingernail, push the reset button and your problem will be fixed

Welcome to Fixya
Sounds like the LCD screen has gone bad. Try to drain the power of the board first. Take out the battery then press and hold the ON button for 10 secs. This will drain the electrostatic charge of the board the usually causes the no display problem. Put the battery back after 10 secs then power ON the unit. If same thing happens then you need to have the LCD replaced by the manufacturer if the unit is still under warranty.
Thank you for using Fixya!

This sounds like there is a problem with the battery.
Remove the AC mains power and take out the battery from the laptop. Plug AC power back in and try booting the laptop up.
If it boots up let it boot into Windows/linux and then shut the computer down as normal. Remove AC power and re-insert the battery. Plug AC back in and power it up, see if it does the same thing. If it does the same thing the battery is faulty. If it boots up with the battery in then there was a glitch.
