i have worked on the hotpoint ctdoop and the vtdoop in every aspect of repair. I can replace the belt on these machines within about 15 minutes or so but it takes a long time to get the hang of it. For the basic diy person, changing the belt is very very difficult to do. The only way to do this with out breaking your heart and the wife and kids running out the front door from all the cursing and swearing, is to strip the machine down to the base and replace the belt. As i said, once you can manage this, its only a fifteen minute job once you know what you are doing, but i would suggest you call out an engineer to do the job for you.
Strange. Heaters usually shut down with the spinning drum when door is open. If you check the schematic for unit you can check to see if in fact this is correct operation. Attached site usually has schematics for appliances. You might want to check. Search Over 2 1 Million Appliance Parts
check the temperature switches in the back for continuity and also the moisture sensor on the exhaust housing at the rear of the unit. all these switches should be normally closed.
good luck...jay
There are no brushes fitted in the motor in these dryers..
More likely to be a worn belt, or possibly faulty start capacitor.,\which is located adjacent to the motor..
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.
If you can move just the drum(not the whole tub). If the drum is "loose", the bearings are gone! I really dont know how to change them on this machine, but it is usually pretty difficult.
