SOURCE: how to recover yahoo mail account?

Had you associated any mobile no. with your account? If you ever had done it, you should be able to recover it. Another way is, you must had answered some security questions during your account-setup process, and if you can remember them, you will also be able to recover your password.
To recover your password, go through the following steps:

  • Go to mail.yahoo.com/ and on the login page, click on "I can't access my account".

6_24_2012_6_20_34_am.jpg

  • A new page will now appear, telling " What problem are you having with your Yahoo account?" Select "I have a problem with my password" and click on Next.

6_24_2012_6_26_41_am.jpg
  • The newly appeared page will tell you "We need some information to verify your ID". You should provide them with your lost account's ID and type the code shown there and then click on Next.
6_24_2012_6_33_32_am.jpg
  • Now this page will tell you: " How do you want to reset your password?". Select "send a text message or use my secret question" depending upon your self-choice.

6_24_2012_6_41_36_am.jpg
If you select mobile no., provide with the mobile no. and recovery code will be sent to your no. immediately. Use it to recover your Password. If your select Security Questions, answer them correctly to gain access to your account. But in some cases, you may have to wait for a few days to answer the secret questions.

Hope this helps, Mrityunjay.

I forgot my password and i don't have an option to answer security questions, or to re send my password to an alternate email, or mobile phone number.

If you forget your Yahoo password:

click this link : https://edit.yahoo.com/forgot ....you will be asked for an alternative email address
to which a reset link will be sent.If you don't have an alternative email you will be asked the 2 secret Q's to which you must answer"old accounts may only have 1"you will then be asked for a new password and thats it.

Also:
You can get a new password, a Yahoo! ID reminder, or both. If you forgot your Yahoo! ID or password, go to the Sign-in Problems page.
If you forgot your Yahoo! ID, you need to provide three pieces of information so we can confirm your identity:
  • Your birthday
  • Your ZIP or postal code (at the time you created your Yahoo! account or when you last updated it)
  • Your alternate email address -Note: You must have access to this email address
  • Country code (at the time you created your Yahoo! account or when you last updated it)
Be sure to provide the same information you gave the last time you registered for a new Yahoo! ID or password or the last time you updated your account.
If you forgot your password, you can create a new one. But first you'll have to provide the following information so we can confirm your identity:
  • Your Yahoo! ID
  • Alternate email address, mobile phone number, or the answers to your secret questions
A Reset Your Password link will be sent to your alternate email address. Click the link and enter your new password in the Reset your password page.
If you entered your secret question incorrectly or forgot what you originally entered, for security reasons, we cannot tell you what your Yahoo! ID is or let you create a new password.

If you cannot verify the answer to your Security Question, you cannot change it to something else.
We strongly suggest that you add and verify an active alternate email address or mobile phone for your account. This is an email address we can use to communicate with you if you no longer have access to your Yahoo! Mail account.

When you request a new password, need technical support, or have questions about your billing, Yahoo! usually asks you for your Secret Question for verification that you are who you say you are.
To protect your account from unauthorized access, Yahoo! must be able to confirm your identify. You can confirm your identity in one of the following ways:
  • Answer your Secret Question (also referred to as a Security Question)
  • Provide a valid alternate email address or mobile phone associated with your account (if you no longer have access to that email address or phone number, it's not valid)
If you can't sign in but have provided an alternate email address or phone number, you won't need to verify your Security Question. Go to the Sign-in Problems page for help logging in to your account.
If you cannot verify your Secret Question and your account doesn't have an alternate email address or phone number we can use to identify you, then you will not be able to reset your password, get answers to questions about your billing, or receive technical support.
If you cannot verify the answer to your Security Question, you cannot change it to something else.
We strongly suggest that you add and verify an active alternate email address or mobile phone for your account.
