What does "work Puff Stitch, Ch 1" mean?

I am making a cherry pie hot pad with puff stitches. What does it mean when it says to "work Puff Stitch, Ch 1"? Does that mean the Ch 1 to close the Puff Stitch, or an additional Ch 1 after the closing Ch 1?

Usually it is best to perform each step as stated in the pattern. Close the Puff stitch (follow the instructions for closing the Puff stitch), then Chain 1.

How do I make a bobble k1 yfwd k1 twice =5 how do I knit into 1 stitch

K1 Yarn forward K1, K1Yarn forward K1 all into the next one stitch. This will make 5 stitches out of one on the right pin. I would then slip, one at a time is easier, those five back onto your left pin and knit them back onto the right pin. Knit these five stitches on the right pin (that you have just created out of 1 stitch) all together which will bring you back to the original stitch. Lots of different ways to make this stitch. Don't forget that by putting your Yarn fwd (nearest to your body) then knitting a stitch it will make one of your five. Some patterns say yon or Yarn over needle. Exactly the same stitch. Hope I haven't made this too confusing. It's a fiddly stitch but just practice.

Meaning of these crochet instructions.ch 2, in first sc (1 sc, 1 hdc, 1, dc), * Will. I make my ch 2 where the parentheses begin or in the single crochet in my last row of a shell

Chain 2 then in the next SC (of the row below), make the combination stitch. So, if the previous row has a bunch of SC, you would make the stitches leading up to the Chain 2. Then Chain 2 and in the next SC, make the 1SC, 1 HDC, ! DC.

I have just purchased a second hand Singer 6038. When sewing, the machine hesitates about every 15cm of sewing causing the stitch to go off centre. The tension is fine whilst trying various stitches.

I'm wondering if there is a possibility that a puff ball is getting in the tension, needle or bobbin. You might want to look at your thread in the light to see if it is fuzzy. Replace it with good, embroidery thread from someplace other than Walmart. Anyway, do a good cleanup in those areas to ensure there isn't buildup of thread.

Machine does not appear to have a button to sew in reverse

try these suggestions
Reduce the stitch length to zero. The machine will stitch in place and form a locked stitch
1) rotate the material and sew over the same stitching. Leave the needle down in the work and raise the presser foot, then turn the fabric around.
2) decrease the stitch length to very small for a few stitches

OR
3) hold the fabric and prevent it from feeding at the beginning and end of a seam, which makes very short stitches

4) stitch about 1/2", raise the needle and presser foot, return the fabric to the beginning position and stitch over the first half inch of seam again. Do the same at the end

Top thread intermittently goes through middle of bobbin thread

If it does ok for around twenty stitches and then pulls the bottom stitch to the top there is this problem:
1. Top thread has tension added all at one time. This means the thread is getting a snag somewhere.
2. When you thread the top do it with the foot up. As you are threading make constant small tugs to see if there are any snags.
3. When a snag is found it will have to be smoothed for the thread to move smoothly.
4. Check the thread while it is flowing through the needle. If it is getting a puff ball you will need to replace the thread with a quality embroidery thread.

How do I set a straight stitch? What is causing the top thread to break?

You do not say which machine you have. As for a straight stitch, make sure the needle is central and not in zig zag mode.
The thread can break for several reasons, such as. Incorrect tension.
:Wrong thread for the material.
: Thread in bobbin different from the top thread.
:Old thread.
: Not threaded correctly.
: Needle not inserted correctly, or incorrect needle.or the thread could be wound around the spool holder pin,
Try removing the spool and turn it around.
Hope this helps.

My bobbin will not pull up

Replace your needle.
Make sure your thread isn't puff balling into the needle hole.
Try putting the needle all the way to the left. (sometimes works-only on straight stitch)
Go to repairman to have it timed.

Have a c-150 furtura ...i'm getting a bad stitch on the bobbin thread with both reg and embroidery stitching how do i fix this been in repair shop 3 times comes back with still bad stitch they use...

ANOTHER THING IS TO CHECK THE TENSION OF THE BOBBIN THREAD. MAKE SURE THE THREAD YOU ARE USING IS GOOD THREAD THAT DOESN'T PULL THE COTTON UP AND CAUSE A PUFF BALL ON THE NEEDLE. CHECK THE WAY YOU ARE LOADING THE TOP THREAD. ALWAYS DO THIS WHILE THE FOOT IS UP SO THAT YOU CAN CONTINUOUSLY GIVE TUGS THROUGH EACH OF THE GUIDES. THIS HAS TO BE LITTLE TENSION WITH NO SNAGS.

Stick with me and I'll see what I can find out.
In the mean time, verify that you are able to do card E1 stitch 24 and card E2 stitch 27. I think you can, but let me know.
