Motor off - reach where the belts are under the seat and tap or smack those pullys. The one that moves to get you going is stuck. That part may need cleaning and lube.

Appreciate fact answer offered - it would appear that there is a misunderstanding that the chamberlain 3380 is an (old) agricultural tractor & not a mower type tractor. Thanks anyway. Peter M

Ok, lets try this. Follow the clutch linkage to its location going into the bell housing - the big section between engine and transmission. Have someone push clutch down while you notice what the linkage is doing. It should move an arm coming out of the bell housing 1 to 2 inches. Holding those parts should show they're connected. Any sloppy looseness indicates something is not rigth. Maybe a flashlite will reveal it. This section is removes to work on the clutch and internal parts that operate it. The actual clutch is a dish size plate. When it fails trash can be seen and a plate may expose checking it for good or bad. Hope this works. This is a good link for gear additives that help them last longer, move easily, end hard shift.

Case tractor problems

The clutch plate is worn out and needs replaced. They are a pain to change so replace the throw out bearing at the same time because they are inexpensive and it is cheap insurance of not having to do the job again.

Scotts L2048 lawn tractor deck wont engage

You need to check the wires from the clutch, with the ignition on pull the pto switch out there should be a 12 volt supply at the wires if not replace the pto switch, if you have 12 volts then it is the clutch itself, they are not realy repairable, so may need a replacment.

Early Ford Farm Tracker- Clutch not engaging

Is it a 8N ford tractor or close to that?
Does the transmission grind or hard to put in gear if the clutch is left engaged while placing in a gear.......does it feel like the clutch is driving the transmission?
If so....there is a short drive shaft behind the transmission in the tractor which may have broken.
There's not much else that breaks in there.
