Try a reboot of the kindle
Take off any cover you may have on the kindle and disconnect it from any outside sources like a computer
Initially connect the kindle to the charger and then hold down the on/off (or slide to the right) switch for more than 20 seconds or until you see the screen flicker on the kindle then release the button, the kindle should reload the operating system between (1 and 3 mins)and all should be well after this
If this does not work try same procedure without the charger.....if this does not work try this.....This time hold the switch down (or to the right)until you see the screen flicker, then wait up to 3 mins for the operating system to reload.
The problem you have is the firmware has crashed thats why its locked up
Do it with the charger first then if necessary without the charger
