Be sure to install a brand new needle. If it still will not stitch properly, the machine probably has been knocked out of time. Search for sewing machine timing or take it for service.

My Bernette 715 isn't picking up the bobbin thread and is getting jammed. Any ideas what's wrong?

First thing to always try: Install a brand new needle. A dull, worn, or bent needle will cause great frustration. It is also the least expensive resolution to most problems.

Second: Remove all the threads. RAISE the presser foot. Rethread from the beginning making sure it is threaded correctly.
Pull up the bobbin thread before beginning to stitch and hold the thread tails in the left hand while slowly taking the first few stitches:

How and Why to Bring up the Bobbin Thread

If still having issues with not pulling up the bobbin thread, the needle/hook may be out of time.

Sunbeam Portable sewing machine won't sew

If you definately have it threaded up properly, follow the thread all the way through the route of "threading up"there could easily be a bit which is catching, or try another thread I have found a lot of low quality threads about

Needle won't remain threaded

make sure the thread has long thread tails of 4 to 6 inches long
and have the thread tails pulled behind the needle before starting
to sew.

Needle won"t stay threaded

that use to happen to me on my sewing machines, I would rethread the machine to make sure the thread is not caught on anything like the thread spool, or around anyone of the thread guides

also for both top & bottom threads, I keep a thread tail of 3 to 6 inches & before I start sewing I pull the thread behind the needle to the back of the machine & the I put the fabric under the foot & start sewing & now I don't have that problem anymore

The bobbin thread wont come up when lowering the needle

The bottom thread won't come up?
Make sure you:
-Have the top threaded and through the eye of the needle (Basics are best to check, I've missed it once or twice! lol)
-Are holding the tail of the top thread when you lower your needle and pull it back up (Hold it too tight though, and it might not grab)
-Have an inch or two of "tail" or extra thread for the needle to grab on your bobbin thread (sometimes it won't grab if there's not much there)
-Have all your lower pieces in and secure. (Mine tend to jump around if I'm not putting 'em in right)
If it's still not grabbing, I'm not sure. Sorry, hope it helps.

I have a E20 Huskystar I was sewing elastic, the machine pulled to many threads into the bobbin case. I pulled out the threads and the thread take up doesn't work now. The machine gets hung up at the...

Thread in the bobbin area can be difficult to get out. Even though you do not see any there is thread wrapped around under the hook area. Shine a flashlight in there and look carefully. Often times you will see a piece of thread. Use tweezers to get it out, pull slowly while turning the wheel by hand. If you notice the thread not coming out, turn the wheel in the opposite direction.

Removing parts in the bobbin area will allow you to get at any thread that is hung up in there. The smallest of pieces can create havoc in there as you may find out. Before removing parts make sure you have a manual in case you forget how to put them back. Remove one piece at time and check for thread right after. No need to remove more than you have to.

My bobbin thread won't pull up. I tried what was listed to do, but it didn't work. Please help me~!!

Here are some things to check:

1. check the threading and tension of the top thread. It may look like it's threaded correctly but not be. When you pull on the thread is there some tension but still pulls out? Make sure it isn't catching somewhere on the path. Also make sure it's not too loose. If it's too loose it won't be able to pull the bobbin thread up enough.

2. check the bobbin threading and tension. Does it have some give but not reel out a ton? Is it catching? Is the bobbin in all the way - hear a click when inserting it?

3. Do you have the right needle for the machine? Is it inserted correctly? Try sewing through ordinary cotton first. Is it stitching? If so then you may not have the correct needle size for what you are trying to sew through.
