Question about LG Microwave Ovens

1 Answer

I have the control panel off but I can't see where the ceramic fuse is. Do I have to remove the entire unit to get to the fuse?

Model is LG LMH2016ST, mounted underneath over stove, underneath a top level cabinet. All unplugged, but microwave is dead. I suspect it is the fuse but I don't see anything that even looks like a fuse anywhere.

SOURCE: microwave stopped working completely

Fan turned on after cooking because a thermostat got to hot and tripped turning on the fan to try to cool the unit.  The unit went completely dead when thermal fuse tripped which is located above the cavity on the left side.

SOURCE: No power from Whirlpool.

The problem was a defective switch. There are 3 switches on mine. 1 on the top door latch, and 2 on the bottom. one of the switches on the bottom connected the power and neutral together, unless it was activated at the same time as the other 2, causing the breaker to trip or the internal fuse to blow. When unhooking the wire going from this switch to the other switch, everything works great now. Though I still need to replace the switch.

And for Basic 1. Yes my microwave did have a fuse in it it's ceramic, I got a pack of them at Radio Shack 4 for 3$ 250V 20 Amp. There should be a wiring diagram inside the microwave, mine was inside a black bag, so it may be hard to see.

Mine was up top next to the fuse behind the Plastic Grill and then a small metal grill. Some are behind the control panel, to fix this remove the screw at the top and then slide the control panel up and it should unhinge.

SOURCE: the fan starts up and runs on its own and we are cooking

That is a normal safety feature.

That's only covered in a very subtle note in the hood fan section of your owner's manual:

NOTE:If the temperature gets too hot around the
microwave oven, the fan in the vent hood will
automatically turn on at the HIGH setting to cool the
oven. It may stay on up to an hour. When this
occurs, the fan can not be turned off.

If for some reason you don't have your owner's manual, you can download it here.

Enter your model number as MV1610ST with no spaces.

You will need the free DJVU viewer to view or print your manual.

SOURCE: NEED TO REMOVE WALL MOUNTED GE JVM1190BY002 MICROWAVE

I also have a JVM1190 and was baffled as to removal. My very handy brother solved it in two minutes. Above the door and keypad there is a long grill secured by two small squarehead (Robertson) screws. Remove the screws and grill and you will see on either side of the opening a long bolt. They go through to the back of the microwave where the support plate attached to the wall. The bolts have a slot in the middle for a flat blade screwdriver. Simply turn the bolt to release from the back plate. Make sure there is a helper underneath as the microwave is fairly heavy. Do the reverse for re-installation.

Underneath the microwave, on the right & left hand corner sides at the back, there are levers that you pull down & it releases the mounting bracket.

Where is the fuse located

You would need to disconnect the oven from the mains supply and remove the metal cover.
The line fuse holder will be seen once you have the cover removed.
Check the fuse continuity with Multimeter, replace if blown.

Replace a fuse on GE Profile model jvm1871SH02

Unplug microwave or shut off house breaker. Remove grill or cover that goes across the top of door and control panel.Remove screw that holds control panel on and lift up on control panel. It will tilt downward and has 2 tabs at the bottom that go into slots. It can be lifted out of those slots. The fuse should be seen at the top area in the microwave behind where the control panel was mounted. Fuse is usually small 1/4 round type fuse like old type car fuses that were glass but the micro fuse will be either a white of gray ceramic fuse not glass. Some are 15 amp some are 20 amp. Usually stamped on end of fuse.

Where is the fuse on KitchenAid model KHMS2050SSS microwave?

Fuses in microwaves are generally located behind the control panel. They can be close to the panel, midway back in the microwave case, or all the way back on the rear wall of the housing. Accessing the fuse will usually require removal of the entire outer case, and in some instances, the removal of additional interior panels. If you decide to do the job, be sure to replace the fuse with one exactly like the ceramic one you find in there. Glass fuses are not designed to handle the power that goes through these ceramic fuses.

Lg lmh2016st microwave shorted out after changing lightbulb now doesn't work

We see and repair this a lot. The problem is on the controller assembly.

There is a video here showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

The lights can can be inoperable or stuck on or stuck in "night light" mode. Sometimes this will similarly affect the fan operation or inside light, too.

How do you change the fuse?

I guess you checked for power at the outlet. First unplug unit. Second hang plug where you can see that you've unplugged unit, and that you can see that it's still unplugged when you come back from whatever interruptions that will occur.
Take off the long vent above the door. That will expose the screw holding the control panel on. Remove that screw and lift the control panel straight up to expose the innards. The fuse will be a light gray or white ceramic piece with silver on the ends. Once it's out check the silver end for the amperage rating, ie 20A or 18A.
Replace with a ceramic fuse with the EXACT SAME VALUE. Still see the plug? Reverse the order to reassemble. Test run. If the fuse blows again the unit will have to be opened up for component/connection checks. The fuse will probably cost $3.00-$5.00, just so you're not suprised.

Hope this helped, and good luck.

KitchenAid KHMS175M stopped working. Electrical socket is okay, no electrical breaker issues. No lights or fan either. Could this be a fuse and how would I check that?

Probably is a fuse. IT is behind the control panel. Remove grill, one screw hold panel n. Remove screw, lift panel straight up. You'll see how those hooks on the side of the panel fit for reassembly. The fuse will be ceramic, a light gray or white. amperage will be stamped in the silver end, probably 20A. I always checked for a reason for the failure, ie loose high voltage connections, faulty component, or high amp draw. You would have to open the unit up for that. So pay your 3 or 4 bucks for a CERAMIC replacement of the SAME AMP VALUE, and hope for the best. If the new one blows it needs to go to the shop.

Frigidaire Gallery FMT148G1W2 everyting works on the control panels, but food will not heat

This is usually do to a bad Inside the machine is a fuse that is expressly for the magnetron tube. You may or may not have special screws that hold the cover on, but usually they are the tamper - proof kind, you Can buy the tool that removes them. The fuse will be a small (1/4"x1 1/4") AGC type and will be white ceramic with a metal cap at each end, this too, you can buy. After replacing the fuse, make sure that you put the cover back on before testing the ' nuke '. The special tool ( if you have to buy one) and the fuse will cost far less to purchase than a new unit. If the unit still doesn't heat, then the problem will most definitely be in the mag circuit. To replace the entire unit would be my best advice, to repair it costs more than just money, you also have to hassle with the repair people and lose out on time not having your 'nuke'.

Ok , I replaced the fuse checked all connections and checked plug for power ! Still my lg lmv1630st will not show any power at all . What gives?

by replacing the fuse you meant the house circuit fuse or the microwaves internal fuse? and by conncetions your talking the internal wiring inside the case of the unit or wiring from the plug? if not its your 15 or 20 amp ceramic fuse inside the unit,if thats blown replace, but chk h.v.diode,v.v. cap, triac, control board, mis-adjusted interlock safety door switch, and lastly the mag could be defective

You most likely had a power surge and blew a fuse. First unplug the unit, then remove the top grill. There will either be one screw on top of the control pad or 2 on the left side. open the control panel and look for a fuse that has a ceramic center and replace it with a 20 amp one. You can find these at the hardware store
