There are indeed many naby causes for the BSOD, unfortunately... however it is usually a "Driver" issue, but not always. Often the Display Driver. What you need to do is, remove any thing attached, & try to boot into SAFE MODE,with networking, press F8 at bootup... and then, either,, try a System Restore, back to an earlier time when was OK. OR troubleshoot via the Msconfig, command. Start->Run->Msconfig (enter) This will bring up a set of tabs select startup tab and disable all. Try a restart, if it does, stay in safe mode, then re-enable them, , one by one until it hangs up... there is your problem. Remove/Update that software. If that doesn't work.. It may be a virus too.. do an extensive scan. Sometimes it is handy to run "Housecall" this is a very good online Virus scanner.
