Hi nickieboone , we want to help you with your question, but we need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box?
What is the IP address of the computer and subnet mask ?
Subnet mask would be my guess that it either does not match or you made a mistake in the ip subnetting if using subnetting of ip addresses.
in english - the subnet mask normally has 255 in its address 255.255.255.0 but when sub netting you might use 255.255.242.0 which changes the ip address range you can use.

SOURCE: What does dpn's mean

DPN, in the context of knitting, means "Double Point Needles"

STS stands for "stitches"

So: pick up stitches of one sleeve plus 4 stitches from cast-on underarms, on 3 double-point needles. Use double point needles on those three stitches so the thread can be doubly threaded per each weave.

What does computer command "ipconf/release" do?

This command will flush the IP address from an active connection. The correct syntax is ipconfig /release *con* which will release all connections. If you just want to see if you can get a new address then use ipconfig /renew

One of my computers wont connect to internet keeps saying limited acsess other computers are working fine

It means there is issue of tcp ip address. Limited connectivity means network adapter tcp ip not correct or not getting ip from DHCP server. For that set static ip in network adapter tcp ip property ac your local network range. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

When logging on, my screen goes white (totally) for a short time (about 30 seconds). and then, i can see my homepage in pieces flickering until it comes in completely. i don't know if this is a computer...

It means taht you may have loose cable connection between the logic board and the LCD panel T-CON board, that will be the first place to look, it can also be that it is losing the 5vdc feeding the T-CON board. Please see T-CON album to see what T-CON board looks like.<br /> <span style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Arial','sans-serif'; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt"><a href="http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums">http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums</a></span><br /> <span style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Arial','sans-serif'; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt"> </span><br /> <span style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Arial','sans-serif'"><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague</a></span><br />

The segement of the print server you select is different from your computer" on Vista,

Meaning that the IP Address of the print server is different from the computer's IP Address.

If you're computer has a static IP Address, you need to assign a static IP Address for your Print Server. To assign a static IP for the print server, you need to open the PSAdmin utility on your computer, locate the TCP/IP and click the plus (+) sign. Double-click the IP Address and you may change it from there.

Make sure that the IP Address of your computer, router and print server are in the same IP range. And make sure that you could ping the IP of the print server.

Then configure the printer port settings and you should be able to print.

Have a great day!

Ip address after rest is setting at 169.254.58.1 and the land con

Your computer is not getting an IP address from the router. My guess is that you're trying to connect to it wirelessly without knowing the wireless security settings.

Try connecting directly to it using a network cable, configure the wireless settings and try again.

No Internet connection

First of all I am interested to see the output of this on both machines:
Start->Run->CMD [Enter]
In the Black box type:
ipconfig [Enter]

I would like to see this information if you could be so kind.

You need to check your TCP/IP Settings to make sure they are both set to DHCP which will make it receive a Dynamic IP Address. Also it should set the gateway address for you but you may need to specify the correct addresses for IP, Subnet, Gateway and DNS to ensure immediate access to the internet. Most likely you are in this range but I could be wrong:
192.168.*.* IP
255.255.255.0 Sub
192.168.*.* Gateway

DNS Depends on your ISP but you can find out the information by logging into your router for instance:
http://192.168.1.1 will get you to your router if
your IP one of your clients is 192.168.1.*

Dell latitude c640

Hi

Both Dell Part numbers 18THT and 5W299 are 8X DVD-ROM Drive Modules. DPN 18THT is compatible with Latitude C series and DPN 5W299 is compatible with Latitude D series. The two drives have different and incompatible connectors.

Your Latitude C640 is a C Series Latitude. You can therefore not use DPN 5W299.

If you need a DVD drive module, get DPN 18THT or an alternative Latitude C series drive.
