SOURCE: My GE Oven heating element and timer clock went

Try unplugging the oven and let sit for 10 min. This will reset the curcuit board and reboot the electronics. You may have to pull out the stove o get to the cord.

Yes it will need a new element, if the fan runs and temperature light comes on then the element is gone.

SOURCE: Oven not working, is it the thermostat or element

This will almost certainly be the element and is fairly simple to replace.

SOURCE: bake element does not heat up

This would be a good candidate, but not necessarily an absolute. Selector switches, loose wires, fuses, and a few other sundries could also be the cuprit. Make sure that the new element that was installed is the correct one for your model. I am assuming that the element was replaced?

If not, by all means, check the element. Elements only last a few years. Just because the plug it plugs into has current, it doesn't mean that the element itself is any good. By far, a burned out element is the most common, easily fixed failures.

Unplug or shut the appliance off at the breaker. Pull the element and visually examine for burnt or rough spots. The elements either pull directly from the housing, or are held in place with a few screws. Bad elements sometimes look totally normal.

If the bottom and top elements are the same( they usually are) a simple check would be taking out the broiler element and then swapping for the bake element. If the broiler element works in the bake position, buy a new element and ask for a refund for the service call.

I can't understand why the service person did not pull the unit and check voltage in the control before making an absolute diagnosis. The circuit board is usually well over 100.00. The unit also sometimes comes with a diagnostic feature that homeowners/techs can use to test the "ERC" without even taking it out of the range.

If you have your owners manual, check the trouble shoot section. If not, Sears has some manuals and repair help/parts online, and Whirlpool is among the best companies in terms of customer supports. I don't know your model, so I can't be too specific with advice. The link for Whirpool has a search engine you can use for your exact model. This link is for most newer models. Among other online resources, Repair Clinic" has parts that you can order online, and they also have diagrams that can help out significantly if you do change the unit out yourself. If it is something cheap like an element, it is helpful to go to an appliance store where you can return the unit a little easier. Thanks for your question, please leave comments if you need further advice.

No heat from oven although fan and light are both working

hello gavin..... Usually, when an oven won't bake, it's because the bake element is burned out. The bake element is the black, pencil- thick tube at the bottom of the oven. When the oven heats, the element glows red. This element has an expected life-span of several years. It may last for only one; it may last for many more. When the element burns out, you need to replace it.

This is an inexpensive part and relatively easy to replace. Call your local appliance store to obtain the part and the instructions on how to install it. Joe

Have had 4 Neff oven elements in 2 years, why does this keep happening ? B14241 single oven element keeps blowing, grill and light are fine, any ideas please ? is it time for a new oven ?

If you are not fitting genuine
elements, this is probably the reason they are failing so quickly.
You will pay a lot more for the genuine article, but they will last a lot longer.
Also make sure the fan is working o/k, as this can cause premature element failure.

Thanks.

First your broiler heating element may have gone bad and now you oven heating element may have gone bad. Using an OHM meter disconnect them and test for their value.Full scale on the meter means it is shorted. No meter movement means that it is open.Eitehr means to obtain a new element(s) and replace it/them.

The oven isn't heating up.

Hi ,and welcome to fixya.
Make sure that the timer is set to manual, and not on auto, or the oven will not work.
If it is a fan assisted oven and the fan is working, then you wiil probably find that the oven element has gone, you will find this located behind a removable cover at the rear of the oven.
It is a very straight forward job to replace same.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks, and a merry xmas.
