I have problem in the bt incoming socket in my house. it seems to be between the bt test socket and the customer outlet can you supply info on this wired connection super hub works on test socket but

Modern wiring, if you have broadband, only uses two wires.

They consist of the A leg and the B leg. The A leg is connected to connexion 2; the B leg to connexion 5.

Other connexions are concerned with earth (usually for party lines) and ringing (for telephones not on an ADSL line--telephones on ADSL get their ringing current derived from the flter). These other two wires should now be disconnected as they can cause noise.

The wires are in pairs, the blue on white has a pair, which has a little white on blue; the orange on white's pair is white on orange.

It sounds as though the blue pair are the A and B leg, and should be connected to 2 and 5.

Check on another telephone socket (it should be wired exactly the same).

Need to know how to wire a RJ45 Cate 5E wall socket. Trying to understand the wiring diagrams which are numbered 1 to 8 where as socket is configured as A and B in two rows of 4. Fittings I have are Krone...

If you place the socket in front of you, the terminals from on the left side from bottom to top will use the white/blue, blue, white/brown, brown wires and the terminals on the right side would use the green, white/green, orange, white/orange wires from bottom to top.
A and B are used just to differentiate from the T568A and T568B schemes. So if you don't need cross-over configurations, you can just use the same on both ends. The method above is for the B scheme.

I want to change my old telephone socket for a new one, i have the BT line with a orange and white wires coming in and i have an extension with six wires coming from the box located in place numbered 1 to...

With BT there are only TWO wires, Tip & Ring... these wires simply go daisy chain from socket to socket, they ALL go on 2 & 5 in the socket. ONLY the FIRST socket should have a capacitor, and be the "Master" socket. The "LINE" also goes onto that 2 & 5 in the Master too.

Hi,

That is the BT side of the wiring and should not be touched .. It sounds like you are trying to install an extension and should use a punchdown tool to extend the existing socket to a new box.

Hope this helps? .. if it does, please leave feedback - if not, please let me know and I'll see what I can do to help!

I found some good information on this site: http://www.ling.upenn.edu/~kurisuto/phone_wiring.html.

He lists that the old style wire has become obsolete, and shows a diagram of how they line up to the new style.

I would like to know how to wire a rj45 socket please

There are two standards, 568A and 568B. As long as both ends of the cable are wired alike, it doesn't matter which you use.

For the 568A:
1 - White / Green
2 - Green / White
3 - White / Orange
4 - Blue / White
5 - White / Blue
6 - Orange / White
7 - White / Brown
8 - Brown / White

For the 568B, just swap the Green pair and the Orange pair.

The blue and blue/white attach to the red and green wires behind the jack assembly. The other colors are only used for a 2nd and 3rd line number. Thank You Jerry
