SOURCE: the door of the fridge does not close properly

Just fixed this problem with my Kenmore. Remove the bottom hinge and the nylon washer on the stud that sticks up that goes into the bottom of the door. Put 2 - 9/16" i.d.x 1" o.d. washers on the stud and put the nylon washer back on top of these, and put the hinge back on. It will work perfectly after this. The washers come in different thicknesses so you'll have to mix and match until you get the ones that raise the door enough so it will close properly with out pushing it.
This wasn't a leveling problem the door just didn't close properly without a push because it was hanging to low.

SOURCE: Whenever fridge door is shut

Thank you for responses. The door is on a pivot and if I lift it there is a very visible gap between its raised position and its dropped position.
Unfortunately, the door doesn't stay in the high position and on ocassions doesnt connect with the light switch, therefore raising the temperature to 22 degrees!

How do a fix a Westinghouse fridge door that has dropped slightly

Hinge screws probably loose. Refrigerator doors have hinges screwed on the outside. The hinges allow for you to move door to be level, loosen screws, move door level and hold it there till you tighten screws. Sometimes the hinges are covered with a plastic piece that you pry gently up on to remove.

Whirlpool double door fridge. Door wont stay closed. Have to push extra hard to keep it closed

Take out the shelves and drawers. check the rear is clear of ice before putting them back in place, and ensure they are not stopping the door closing. Next check the top and bottom of the door. Is it hitting the frame when closing? If so, straighten it up by tapping the hinge side of the door to make it square to the frame.

The freezer door is on the bottom and will not stay closed. If i lift up on the door just a little and push hard it will close but will pop open as soon as i let go.

I would check and make sure that the fridge is properly leveled, and also that there is nothing behind the fridge or the freezer compartment that is preventing it from closing properly.

Maytag fridge right door won't stay closed

it may be necessary to reset the hinge adjustment to move the door further across the opening giving the magnets a better area to hold on to . there is a slight amount of adjustment in the mounting points of the hinges. You may have to replace the door gaskets as they become hard over time and the magnets cannot work properly in the hard plastic

Whenever fridge door is shut hard/ quickly it causes the freezer door to pop open a little...and meltdown the frozen stuff. The fridge door has dropped a bit but I don't think that is it. It seems there...

The lower hinge on each door may have a door closing cam. It raises the door up ΒΌ inch when opening and this assist in closing the door. If it's wore out and doesn't work the door may not seal and the gasket can be damaged. Watch the operation of the door to see if it rises up when opened.

Leave the door shut and let the magnetic gasket hold the door in place. Put something between the bottom of the door and the floor to hold it in case it slips.
Remove the bracket holding the pin and hinge assembly taking note of order of removal of parts. Slide new cams on. You probably need two.

Freezer is working but refrigerator is not

My Maytag (side by side) had a similar problem, turns out to be the damper door. The freezer does the cooling, there's a damper door between the fridge and freezer that opens and closes to control fridge temp. Find the damper door and prop it open. If the fridge temp drops overnight, you'll need a new damper ***'y.

Freezer door hard to close

Any adjustment is at the hinge, you probably find that you have fitted it too close and it is pinching the gasket in the corner. Tilting the fridge back can help, but the doors must be able to swing closed freely first. This can be done by adjusting the footing screws below the front of the fridge.

Fridge door pops back open

The seal on your door may not be sealing properly, when you close the door the seal helps create a vacuum which keeps your door closed firmly, you might need to replace the door seal, you could also try leveling your fridge by putting shimmys underneath the feet, you might also want to check to make sure there is nothing sticking out of your fridge such as drawers or food racks that may keep the door from closing all the way. good luck.
