How do I connect conventional speakers to Alexa?

  1. Set your Echo Dot and external speaker at least three feet apart. When Echo Dot is close to external speakers, it may be more difficult for Alexa to hear the wake word and other requests.
  2. Turn your external speaker on.
  3. Plug one end of an audio cable into your speaker and the other end into Echo Dot. All audio from Echo Dot now streams through your external speaker.

I bought 2 echo dots i was able to connect one but the 2nd one wont connect

Check and make sure you follow all the steps it took to connect the first echo dot
Tips:
1. If the setup process does not automatically start, press and hold the Action button on Echo Dot for five seconds. Then, open the Alexa app, and go to Settings > Set up a new device.

2. If Echo Dot doesn't connect to your Wi-Fi network, restart Echo Dot by unplugging and plugging the device in again

Just baught a used saround sound speaker system and have no manual to show us how to hook it up and where the conection wires are supose to conect to my television

Without knowing its model number and that of your television this answer has to be very general. Generally speaking you would connect a television to a surround sound system from the television's audio outputs to one of the surround sound system's auxiliary inputs. However most televisions do not have outputs. If your television fortunately has one, then you'd proceed to connect either the red and white RCA audio cable or the digital audio out one depending upon your television's capabilities. The RCA connection though just stereo sound is more reliable as the optical cable's performance can be iffy, and can have a lot of conditions that'll end up with it not working most of the time. The way I have mine set up is I connect all of my devices to the television with a video cable and then separately connect all of them to the surround sound system with an audio cable. Then to hear the sound from the various devices I press my function button on my remote or surround sound system to switch between FM radio, the set top box, and the dvd player.

When i connected the 5.1 home theatre to the LCD tv, there is a lag between the sound from tv and stereo system (just like echo).

That is very common because of video processing delay. You have to listen with either TV speakers or surround sound; but not both. Some TVs have an audion delay adjustment for TV speaker sync.

No volume

Things to check,

1. are you using an external cable/satellite box.
if the answer is yes , verify if you have the audio out of the reciver connected to a surround sound system
If you do have it connected to a surround sound system , verify the surround sound systems volume is up and on the correct source input on the surround sound system

2. if you do not have a external cable/satellite box and and or your not using a surround sound system, and the cable line is connected directly to the television via a coax cable.. then verify that in the audio settings configuration of the telivision you have not accidentally disabled the internal speakers, some tvs have this option , please consult your manual.

System echos when dvd is in. When I mute the Bose sytem I can hear the TV sound without the echo.

The echo you hear is the audio delay between your TV speakers and Bose speakers. Muting (or lowering the volume) on the TV will eliminate the echo. Some TVs have a setting to turn of TV speakers entirely, allowing you to listen to your TVs audio strictly through your Bose system.
