My dyson DC 59 Motorhead works fine for a period of time then just quits. The run time seems unusually short and does not slowly lose power but stops abruptly. What is the problem?

Modern lithium Ion rechargeable batteries don't slow down as they discharge, they run full appliance and then just boom they are dead. You need a new battery

IS the filter the same as DC59

Hi there,

Essentially, yes they are the same.

The DC59 and V6 share the main body in common in most respects, except for the Absolute or HEPA which features the post filter and is therefore different.

I hope this helps but if you have further questions please give the Dyson Helpline a call on 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA), 0800 298 0298 (UK).

Best wishes,

Allan

I bought my Dyson DC59 4 months ago and it recently started coming on and off intermittently every 5 seconds. What is wrong with it?

I don't think your machine has a bag, so I would guess you have a clog somewhere in the unit. If no clogs turn up, check for a bad connection in what drives your unit. GOOD LUCK FRIEND.

Can I recharge if the filter is out drying

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

As a precaution, we would normally advise against recharging your DC59 while the washable pre-filter is removed and drying. Additionally, the machine should never be used without the filter in place.

I hope this answers your question. If you'd like any further advice you're welcome to contact the Dyson Customer Helpline directly by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

How do you get the bin cover back on?

Hi, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC59's bin base is not designed to be removed from the machine in normal use. However if it's come off accidentally, the hinge is a push-fit connection and you should be able to reattach it without difficulty.

If you're having issues with this, you're welcome to get in touch with our experts directly so we can talk you through it. When you have your DC59 to hand, please give the Dyson Customer Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

I can't get the filter to stay in after cleaning

Hi Patty, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC59 Motorhead's pre-filter is engineered to easy to remove for its monthly wash, but should also stay in place securely once it's replaced. In use, the filter will be held in place by the vacuum's powerful suction. When carrying the vacuum from room to room, we'd recommend keeping the machine horizontal, and to avoid carrying it upside down or vertically. It's also worth checking that the black rubber seal itself is clean and correctly positioned.

If the issue continues, I would encourage you to contact our experts directly so we can provide further assistance. You can reach us by calling 1-866-693-9766 (US) or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

Why is pulsing ?

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

Dyson Digital Slim cordless vacuums, including DC59 Animal and DC59 Motorhead, are engineered to make a pulsing sound to warn you if they're blocked. This could happen if an item too large for the machine is accidentally vacuumed up. Our video support guide will help you remove any obstructions from the motorised floor tool, wand or bin inlet:

I'm confident this will resolve the issue, but for further guidance from our experts please give us a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).
