no refrigerant leaks have little to no odor and if it was leaking bad enough to smell it the unit would be out of refrigerant and not cooling...the problem sounds like gases coming off of a veggie of something un-covered inside the fridge--have you put any veggies in the fridge or freezer un-covered check real good if one or a piece of something has fallen behind something else where you cannot see...all else fails remove all your products from the unit and clean and get a box of odor control arm&hammer to rid the smell..as for a leak in the sealed system i think your just fine.
Hi, The smell could either be the fan motor or the defrost heating coil... Check out these tips...they can help you figure out what is going wrong withyour refrigerator Refrigeratornot Cooling or Fridge not Cooling
I had the same problem, but just fixed it. I have a maytag bottom freezer and when the fan blower comes on, there was a foul/stale smell that permeated the kitchen. There is no drip pan that I could remove to clean.
I just removed four screws from the back cover of the fan blower area, reached in with a small cup of organic odor remover and poured it into the drip pan just under the fan blower.
Any odor remover would work. probably vinegar or enzyme odor remover would work, too.
I now have fresh smell when the fan blower comes on.
For odors in the refrigerator/freezer try baking soda or, for tougher odors, try Fridge Aid deodorizer, also available in the accessories section of our website.on www.repairclinic.com
Likely you have taken a lot of miles off the unit's life. You can try a container of lucas trans conditioner in there...likely there is a lot of varnish holding internal valves from moving (actually surprised it works at all!!)
This crock pot is too old to use anymore and may be dangerous to plug in to an electrical plug. If I were you I would get a new one that has a removable insert that can be cleaned easily. That would be a safe thing to buy yourself.
I have one they work great.
I turned off my frig and washed it out with soapy water, then I went over it and cleaned it out with lemon and vinegar. I let it sit open for one day. It did not work. As soon as I plugged in the frig it was smelling like shrimp again. Then I put two round cake pans FILLED with ground coffee and crumbled up news paper lightly sprayed with water and let it sit for two whole days. It WORKED. My frig does not smell like shrimp or fish any more. It smelled like coffee but it will go away in a couple of days and your frig will smell good.
