Makita bhp454 overheated, not turning clockwise.

It is very common for the armature to overheat and melt down.

Open it up and inspect the armature, it will be very obvious it is burnt.
If it is the case, replace the brushes (#16) and the armature(#14)

Mikita BHP453rf instruction manual

I am a Makita dealer and service center and I cannot find a Makita tool with the model number BHP453. They do make a BHP452 and BHP454. If you go to the Makita website at www.makitatools.com and put BHP45 in the search box you can get the manuals and breakdowns for those tools and see if they match what you have.

I have a Makita BHP454 cordless drill and lately when I pull the trigger it won't do anything. The lights work but it doesn't move. I have to give it a hit to make it work again.. What would b the...

The first thing to check is the battery: is it fully charged, are the contacts in good condidtion and do they make good contact with the contacts on the switch.
Next thing to check is the brushes. Remove the rear cover and check the brushes and springs that hold them down on the armature. If the brushes are worn to where they dont' make good contact or the springs are not holding them down with enough pressure they won't make good contact and sometimes a good hit will make them touch enough to work again. The brush part number is CB-440, if the springs are bad you have to replave the whold brush holder, part number 638614-1.

Bhp452 makita cordless drill smoking. how can i troubleshoot?

the switch or motor is wired incorrectly. These parts are polarity sensitive. The smoking I would assume is from the old switch and now the rotation is reversed. Let me know if you need more assistance.

I have a Makita #6347d, when I have been using the drill I had some smoke from the battery connection to the drill and the housing of the drill had some smell of smoke. Whats up? Thanks, Bill

Check what gear you in, the Makita will smoke if you exert to much torque, consider buying a decent impact driver? If its not under much pressure then it may be a fault with the drill. I have owned one and it was reliable but sometimes under-powered for an 18volt compared with others on the market.
Hope this helps

Hi i broke the chuck on my 1/2 makita cordless

Put the biggest hex key you have in the chuck and tighten it then hit it clockwise with the spindle lock engaged a couple of times. The screw in the chuck will then undo clockwise and the chuck can be undone after by putting the allen key back in and unscrewing it anti-clockwise maybe with a light tap from a mallet.
Hope this helps

Charger doesn't charge anymore

If you are comfortable with removing the upper half of the housing, unplug charger and remove the screws, take a look at the circiut board for a "cold" solder joint or broken component, usually the round ceramic looking piece with the copper wire around it. but look at the whole board.

Makita 2071 Smoking, probably overheated but still working

When an AC motor is stalled, very high currents pass through the motor windings and melt the insulation on the windings; the smoke was the result of the motor winding insulation being melted. This causes a reduction in motor torque and premature failure.

You should suggest that your neighbor buy you a new drill and he keep the one that he ruined.

according to my breakdown its a drill. do you checked if there is a screw inside the chuck. if there is one remove it by turning clockwise.open the chuck fully & insert allen key 5/16 or 3/8 short side to the chuck.tighten the chuck & wak the allen key with a hammer counter clockwise. do it again if required.putting back together the other way.

Chuck change

After removing the screw and inserting the allen wrench shift the drill to the LOW position and turn the clutch to the drill only position. Use an allen wrench about the size of the chuck capacity so that it will not flex when hitting it with a mallet. Sometimes they are stubborn because of the torque but this should work. Put the allen wrench at about a 30deg angle and hit the wrench. I support the chuck on a workbench or a block of wood will do fine. The chuck has standard threads.
