The fridge should not be above 40 degrees and the freezer not above 30. check back wall of freezer for frost. if so, coils are iced up and need to be defrosted. either take off back wall of freezer and melt ice with warm water or hair dryer, or unplug unit and let it set with doors open for a day. then clean up the water.

Ice cream does not seem to freeze it is always very soft. Everything else freezes O.K.

hi icecream generaly depends on the mixture & consistency need more clarity....

All fresh ice cream is somewhat soft, but should not be liquid. It will never be hard like it is in store. Let it churn until it is the consistency of soft ice cream, and then let it harden a bit in the freezer to get to the consistency you want. It's possible you actually let it churn too long and it started melting again.

Another method I used is to just put the ingrediants in the bowl, put in the freezer, and then take it out of the freezer and churn it myself, moving a butter knife around the edges to get all the frozen parts out, then a fork to mash it up. The ice cream takes less time to freeze and is generally harder

What you are hearing is most likely your compressor cycling on the overload due to drawing excessive amperage, You will have to have it checked out by a tech

I noticed a couple weeks ago the frig side was not cold enough. Milk spoiling but butter not getting soft. Freezer side seemed to be working ok. Now Ice cream in freezer is getting soft.

How old is the fridge? Most units have a system of tubing attached to metal fins, which is located in the back of the unit. This tubing & fins must be kept clean as dust will accumelate & insulate the freon gas from turning into a liquid.. Another problem is when the motor & compressor does NOT get enough air to cool the tubing & fins. This happens when the refrigerator is located in a closet type atmosphere where the unit is too big to get any air to the rear of the unit. NO spacing on the sides or top. ALSO, the compressor might of died. In this case, if the unit is out of warranty and/or over 7-15 years old, buy another, NOT worth the repair. If still under warranty, call vendor/manufacture.

Freezer fine refrigerator is not as cold as it should be. dial is set to coldest position. butter is soft and milk is on verge of spoiling

do you notice ice built up on freezer section back wall if so you have a defrost problem if not you have a freon problem also make sure the freezer setting is not on its coldest setting this actually controls the air flow to the fridge section both freezer and fridge need to be set about half way

Freezer does not freeze fast enough, icecream gets soft

Faulty Cold control (Temperature Control)
The cold control is a temperature actuated switch and should open when the set temperature has been achieved. If the control does not open and turn the compressor off, it will continue to run and all items in the fresh food section will begin to freeze.

If the control is not closing, the compressor and all fans will cease to operate. Check the control for continuity.

This is usually not a do it your selfer.
