It's likely that the laptop does not have the codecs built into the media player to play the content. You can download the CODECS by searching for the K-Lite Codec pack online. It will then play anything.

How do i record record to cd?

The most convenient method is to use a PC and a program (usually free) that will recognise the audio from a record player that is plugged into the audio line in connection sockets , usually a red and a white audio wires can be used and are very common TV uses these two wires as the left and right audio channels plus a yellow connection which carries the image signal . There is a infinite ways that can be used to connect the audio signal to just about any other electrical device, you just have to know the output and input socket system for both devices and you can easy connect them for usually around $ 2:00 or less , once the connections are made its only a matter of burning the CD when you next play the record , VHS video, gets converted to CD format all the time due to the fact video players do not get used any more! this could only be done by taking in your tape to a shop and they would convert it for you ! But now anyone can convert VHS to CD .

How do i go about transfering vhs-c video from an

You have several options. But important one to understand is the limitations of a PIII computer like Armada e500. You may not have enough grunt to convert stuff, even after buying the necessary video capture devices which work on USB.

Also I am assuming you either have the jvc camcorder still available or atleast have a VHS-C to VHS adapter to play the tapes on a standard VHS tape player.

Unless you are having a lot tapes and need editing while converting, your better bet might be to go to one of the shops that convert these tapes on to DVD or a suitable flash drive which might work out cheaper and quicker.

The last time I did this thing (quality of my VHS-C tapes was bad) I bought a Samsung combined VHS Video / DVD recorder and used the dubbing feature to burn DVDs. Cost me about $150 a year ago. I was able to do some editing on the way as I was connected to the TV screen as well. Saved me the hassles of dealling with the PC type video capture devices and software.

My RX V640 is 5 years changes to the configuration. when I use to the DTV/Cable setting feed...stereo sound etc is fine. Lately when I try the DVD setting to record TV to...

theb best way to do this is to connect the DVR to the vhs unit and the vhs unit to the tv using red white and yellow for both connections. usually composite video 1,2,3 or 4. DO NOT involve the AVR at all, as it will cause your video and audio to be out of sync. The video will not be as sharp, until you play it threw an up-converting dvd or AVR.

Tv/digital converter box & vcr-dvd hook-up

I have a vhs and dvd player all in one
I have a converter box hooked up to my tv and vcr , dvd player combined
I can play my movies on the tv. ok.
you have to have your tv and vcr set on channel 3. if that is what your main tv is set up with. Or 4 if you have your tv set up with that.
Mine plays ok. My settings are for channel 3
My suggestion would be to check your hook ups. maybe they are not hooked up correctly
I had to go to and did searches to help with hook up.
I can also record station I am watching with vcr on vsh tapes. I do not have a dvd recorder.
I found out that you have to have 2 converter boxes hooked to one tv., in order to record on on station while watching another. I have not tried that, as I don't have 2 converter boxes for one tv. I found that by doing google search also. Good Luck

Hooking up my DVD/VHS player to TV & Convertor box

I would just hook up the dvd/vhs player with the red, white, yellow rca cables that should of come with your unit and just go to the input on the tv to watch your dvd/vhs player. This will give you a better picture and sound while allowing you not to have to watch dvd/vhs on a channel which helps make the dvd/vhs player independent. Also if possible I would hook the converter box up with the red, white, yellow rca cables to the tv as well if your tv has more than one set of red, white, yellow plugs since it is a better connection that coax and you probably watch more tv than vhs/dvd anyway. So bottom line try to hook up both boxes red, white, yellow and watch each box on different inputs instead of like channel 3 or 4. Also to record of converter box you can run coax from converter box to dvd/vhs combo and make sure your dvd/vhs player is on tuner input or channel 3.

Getting a dvd player to record vhs to dvd

The RF converter takes the Red/White/Yellow as INPUTS and converts them to either channel 3 or 4. You need to go the other way. You need a tuner or another VCR to convert from RF (channel 3 or 4) to a standard AV signal (Red/White/Yel).
