Chances are the evaporator coils (behind the back freezer wall) are icing up and must be thawed out. this is from too much moisture freezing to the coils (door left open in hot weather, drain plugged, or fridge filled before letting it chill for a day empty and on). take back wall off and use warm water or a hair dryer (only until ice melts- do not overheat metal) to melt the ice. soak up excess water from under fridge, too. also check to see if the fan is working.

Why is my freezer warming up?

Sounds like your heater/defroster went bad and by now there is probably ice build up and fan can not push the cold air to the freezer. Very easy fix but you will have to buy new heating cable ($25-40) and strongly advise to buy a new thermostat as well(around$10) it snaps on heating cable and controls power to heating cable whenever there is ice build up.

My older frost free GE Profile gets VERY hot on the sides and on the top during part of the cycle.
Is your temp indicator picking up the heat from the cycle? Check actual temp using a thermometer...hardware store should have one.
Are doors competely closed on the unit? No Food or plastic wraps/bags in the way?
Is the fan working properly, not squeaking or squealing?

Frigidaire top-mount refig. freezer won't get cold ,temp.stays around 26 degrees, refrig. don't keep milk cold enough

check that the evaporator fan motor ,located in freezer is working.it circulates the cold air.also check that the coils behind freezer back panel are not iced up,this would indicate a lack of defroting due to,timer, heating element,or bi-metal.lastly when the refrig is running those coils should get frost over them all,if not you may be low on refigerant

The heating element, located behind the back plate of the freezer, is probably not working. A failed heating element leads to a build up of ice around the evaporator coils in the rear of the freezer. If the back plate of the freezer is removed (ONLY DO THIS WITH THE APPLIANCE UNPLUGGED FROM THE POWER SUPPLY) and there is a large build up of ice around the evaporator coils then it's a fairly good indication that the heating element is not working. The heating element comes on periodically to defrost/de-ice the evaporator coils. Heating element is often activated by a small timer switch which turns the heater on for a set time every 24 hrs or so. Heating element may be open circuit or timer switch may not be operating. Most likely to be open circuit heating element.

Freezer works great, but fridg. will not get below 50

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
