Of course you need wifi. The firestick is a wireless connection from your television to your internet which needs to have a wifi router connected to the internet. All of the netflix and other providers signals come in over the internet to the firestick.

Amazon fire stick reset

make sure that your wifi is a good signal,if you are using a lower tier internet service then it wont work,call your internet provider and verify that your internet is sufficient,also use 5ghz wifi,not 2.8ghz.
if this doesnt work for connecting then,
reset this way,
straight from amazon,reset firestick,
Please unplug the Fire TV stick from power source and then plug it again after 5 seconds.
Once the Fire TV stick is back on, please take batteries out of the remote and re-insert

also,xfinity remote controls work with firestik tv in place of the original remote,program it for a vizio tv and forget the original remote!

One idea is trying it on someones TV that you know is working with WiFi.
Another is plugging it into your PC via USB (only) open File Explorer and see what's in there. (Be careful - don't reformat it or delete things from it).

Either your WiFi is not configured correctly on the Fire Stick or your WiFi is not working correctly in your house

If my wifi connection is good how come my fire stick won't work

reset your router. a lot of times your wifi signal strength is good but no data is being transferred. on a computer you would notice a orange triangle hovering over the wifi strength indicator denoting no data is being transferred, but a fire stick doesn't have that feature built into the firmware. so reset the router or reset the first stick and the connection should be re-established.

The tv show or movie loads in Amazon, Netflix, Acorn, etc... I can see it but then it won't play. I can forward it but it still won't play.

I have been on here all night and i still can,t get netflix

download the netflix app,enter your credit card info to buy netflix service,,it should work,also,
