Electric flash by my new Brother XR1355 sew.machine

I would think it's more like something wrong with the receptacle rather than the machine. Try plugging it into a different plug first if that's isn't the problem. We will have to try something else.

Are you using a transformer to break the current down from 250 to 110V?? Just putting a plug adapter onto the US plug end is not enough and can definitely damage your machine, I'm assuming its not an electronic machine as it would probably have fried the circuits if it was.

You may have to pay quite a bit for a good quality transformer but it will be necessary.

Bought a singer from the state but cannot be used in australia what should i do?

If it is an electronic or computerized machine, you are out of luck. USA has 110 volt 60Hz current, Australia has 220 volt 50Hz. A transformer can change 220 to 110 volts, but it cannot change 60Hz to 50Hz.

Are you sure this is the correct foot control for your machine? Do you have a manual for it?

You don't say what make and model so perhaps check the sewing machine plate for this information (usually near the power inlet or back of machine. Then search for that manufacturer's website - they may have spare parts catalogue on line or a manual which will help you to identify your machine.

It would be unlikely that you have foot control power lead combination with a secondary plug going into the machine.

There are websites that sell generic foot controls and they show the plug end, try or to track one down.

I have and old Bernina 830 and am trying to adapt a new foot pedal switch. The new plug is larger where it fits the machine. Is the wiring the same on the new bernina foot switch as the old? If so, I can...

unless the new harness and control is for a new style computerized machine the control should be the same, the different size plug is baffling me
