Question about Craftsman Garden

1 Answer

Craftsman Leaf Blower will only rev up about 1/2 power at full throttle. Any suggestions?

I have installed a new Carburetor, spark plug and fuel tank with new fuel filter. I check the screen in the exhaust and it's clear, air filter is clean too. I put in fresh gas and still only half power at full throttle. It starts easy now, 2 pulls, just lacking power.

If this is a two cycle engine there are adjustment screws that set the fuel mixture when the throttle is depressed.

Echo ES210 Blower will not start

Since you are getting spark from the plug it sounds like a fuel problem. I would check all the fuel lines and make sure they aren't plugged and ensure the filters are clear.

Troy-Bilt Hand-Held Blower dies when warm and throttle wide open

You reported that most of the items I would've suggested, you have checked...
Good job.
A couple more things:
  • Replace fuel filter, it's in the gas tank
  • Check and clean the Spark Arrestor screen at muffler, when they plug up, it's a major restriction to exhaust gas flow
  • And check and adjust High/Low screws at carburetor, video attached.
  • And clean or install rebuild kit for carburetor
Good luck...

Check the following, and then clean or replace:
  • Fuel Filter - Located INSIDE the fuel tank
  • Spark Plug
  • Spark Arrestor - at Muffler
  • Carburetor - May need a rebuild kit

Leaf blower runs on half choke

My craftsman leaf blower ran great for 4 years.. It stop running on me one day while using it.. I replace the carb, muffler and fuel filter with a new one.. it still will only run when the choke is half closed and don't run good doing that.. I have also noticed oil around the plug and muffler. I have to use either to get it started and I noticed when I pour a little oil in the spark plug hole before cranking it seems to run loner but not at full throttle think it might be piston rings shot.

Blower bogs down and kills at full throttle

Check the following, then clean or replace:
  • Fuel Filter - Located IN the fuel tank
  • Spark Plug
  • Spark Arrestor - at muffler port, creates resistance of exhaust flow, engine then bogs
  • Carburetor - may need a rebuild kit
Then watch this...

Craftsman gas blower no start

Basics to check:
1) Spark plug - brown or dark brown - OK
a) is it carbon or fuel fouled
b) is there spark

2) Muffler remove for inspection
a) exhaust screen clean or plugged
b) inspect cylinder wall/piston as the flywheel is slowly rotated
3) Check cylinder compression

Fuel starvation - 'lean fuel' condition
Basic things to check:
1) spark plug
2) spark arrestor in muffler
3) fuel lines and tank filter
4) turn adjustment needles out (counterclockwise) 1/4 to 1/2 turn
Chain Saws:
5) check impulse tube and intake boot for cracks or leaks
*if all of the above are OK and/or do not improve performance then:
Remove Carburetor
6) replace gaskets/diaphragms
a) use a spray carb cleaner to clean jets, holes, and body of carb
b) fuel pump diaphragm goes against the carb body,
then the gasket towards the outside
c) metering gasket goes against the carb body,
and the diaphragm goes towards the outside
