Sounds like your power head is seized or almost seized. Possibly real dirty. take apart and lubricate ends and replace the belt I feel is slipping Hence the squealing.. Clean all parts thoroughly.

Dyson DC41, DC43, DC65 or DC66 - Removing a blockage from the cleaner head or...

If your Dyson DC41, DC43, DC65 or DC66 upright vacuum cleaner doesn't seem to be picking up as well as it should be from carpets or hard floors, this may be due to a blockage. A blockage could occur if an item too big for the machine has been accidentally vacuumed up.

After turning off and unplugging the machine, please follow the steps shown in the video to locate and remove any obstructions from the cleaner head, internal hose or changeover valve.

I have a Hoover power head vacuum cleaner. When I turn the power head on it makes a squealing sound

the bearings at the end of the roller brushes need lubricating. The belt may be too shiny to be useful now so replace it after you lube the brush

My dyson animal dc41 is making a screaching noise during use. also does not glide easily on some surfaces since this started to happen

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear about the issues you're currently experiencing with your DC41 Animal, but from your description of the problem I'm confident that we can resolve this for you.

Just to make you aware, it's normal for dirt and debris not to spin within the clear bin - in fact, at the base of the bin are four 'baffles', engineered to capture the debris from the airflow and force it to settle. This isn't in itself an indication that there's a fault with the machine.

I'd like to take some further details to help get your DC41 up and running again. At your earliest convenience, please email [email protected] and our experts will be in touch. We'll look forward to hearing from you.

How do replace belt on dc41

Ouch The video below shows how to to remove the brush head and how to clean it. I almost think that Dyson didn't ever expect this belt to break. The rest of the disassembly to get to the brush seems to be done by removing torx screws, I have not been able to find a replacement from dyson. A google search shows several sites that sell a replacement belt.

The hose suction on my Dyson Animal (DC41) is fine, but will not disengage when you put the hose back and want to use the floor sweeper.

Hi Stacy, it's Jack at Dyson.

This issue you've described with your DC41 sounds unusual, as the changeover valve will divert suction to the cleaner head automatically when you recline the machine into the vacuuming position. If it's not doing this, it's possible you have a blockage somewhere in the cleaner head, internal hose or changeover valve.

To check for this, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide: http://www.dyson.com/support/dc41/dc41-irspu/diagnosis-root-menu/performance-flo-area-check-dc41/flo-brushbarvid-dc41/redirect-to-performance-flo-base-dc41-checking-the-internal-hose/performance-flo-base-dc41-checking-the-internal-hose
