All Magicjack calls I make will disconnect after 5 to 15 minutes. Why?

Check your computer is not set to hibernate or go into screen saver at these times. Magicjack should not cause the cut-off.

Magicjack error 401

This error usually shows up when magicjack does an update. You will need double check if you can log into my.magicjack.com if you can then you will need to reinstall the magicjack software and try again. If you cannot log in then there is an update taking place and you will need to wait it out.

Hope this helps

Using MagicJack for faxing; however, Brother MFC 290C is stating poor line condition - why? Also say's low ink Magenta - would that create this problem?

I had the same problem trying to send out faxes out using my Brother MFC 7340. I use a magic jack phone line. Page 106 of the user manual says if sending via VOIP phone line, you should press menu, then 2, 0, 1 to select "Basic (for VOIP) mode. Then press ok. Then press stop/exit. This cuts the modem speed down to 9600 bps and turns ECM off. Then retry to send the fax. I did that and can now send and receive faxes.

After 3 months my MagicJack stopped working. I have this same problem with 3 different MagicJack devices: after dialing a few numbers successfully, when I dial the next number I hear only 1 or 2 rings then...

Likewise I had the same problem, spent 3 days and on hold for 2 hours at a time, told the tech who was doing a live link into my computer suddenly went on break, then was gone for the day...their TECHNICAL SUPPORT IS A NIGHTMARE...and no, we still do not have a solution to our phone and went through alllllll the same gyrations!

MagicJack VOIP sound cuts in and out

MJ ran fine for me from July 2008 to October 2009, when choppiness and cutouts started and continue to today. This is a MJ network problem, there is no fix in your own computer, as I have tried everything - computers, internet speeds, headset with phones unplugged, other Magicjacks. The MJ servers have just become overloaded. MJ is dead.

MagicJack VOIP sound cuts in and out

I just bought a new computer, a mac, and bought the magic jack hoping to have a reliable home phone family and friends could call me on.  But ever since I hooked it up(which was easy to do) my calls cut in and out every call I made-over and over again.  Every call.  Not just here and there.  Anyways, I was reading other people's complaints and it seems that a lot of other people are experiencing this as well. I have Verizon DSL at the midgrade speed-something like 3.0 mps.  Fast enough for MagicJack.  What I was doing was running the supplied router that came with the Verizon package which included a built-in wireless router to run my computer with without the cables(of course).  So I did a lot of research, didn't even call customer support, and someone out there gave me the solution I needed without calling. That person suggested that I not use the wireless and hardwire it instead using an ethernet cable.  Granted, this does have its drawbacks, but ever since I did that every call has been perfect.  So, some of you may be able to get away with cheap home phone service with reliability just by using the ethernet cable instead of the wireless router.  Heck, if its close enough, keep a spare ethernet cable close by, unplugged from your computer(still using the wireless) and when a call does come, quickly hook in the ethernet cable for a near perfect call with no cutting in and out problems.  This is a solution that worked for me and maybe for some of you out there too.  Good luck.
