Question about Zenith R56W36 56" Rear Projection Television

Zenith R56W36 television

Tv was working fine, then on my son heard a loud crackling sound and smell somthing burning.We switch it off imediately, then try agin it did the same. I could even see a light at the back. The tv won't stay on , nor power up.

Sounds like the flyback transformer is bad would need to change the supply module 6871VPM997D approx $175.00 or replacement of flyback T403 and part number 6174Z-6400B runs 49.27 but would require soldnering skills

Have a 65inch Mitsubishi DLP. acouple years old, just heard a loud pop,smelled like it was burning,it turns on but just sound????

Check the lamp of you tv. The lam is burned. that's why you heared a pop up sound and burning smell. Just check it and replace it. you will get the picture back.

There is no picture and no sound but the volume

Unplug the cable box for an hour,replug it back in.Should get the cable box to reboot to updated the softwares.Might work than,tv seem to have picture,somethings on the screen,words mean ur tv still works.

Loud sound of air and screeching tv keeps powering down

Sounds like a CRT is arching internally. to confirm remove the covers to have a view of the picture tube necks- in adimly lit room you should see bue arching in one of the tubes. (there are three piture tube with glass necks)

Tv made sizzle pop sound and went out

All depending on the models, but i have seen and work on may units with this problem, there are a few large capacitors on the power supply that are sometimes doubly secured with glue, that in turn becomes conductive and causes faults like this. check all the large capacitors for any low or nil readings and with a fine point probe, carefully remove the glue on the and around the caos, and elsewhere if you see any. your main power supply has been burned out. make sure all electronic are protected by a surge protector in the furture

Tv repair

I posted this many times.
the sound is basicly one circuit. the picture is thousands.
I always suspect a short in the high voltage system of the set first if sound is working.

Burning smell and distorted picture

Can you describe the distorted picture/ Is it out of alignment? Pulled in from the sides or top and bottom? Or does it appear curved and 3D like? Please respond to this same post and I will try and assist you.

Picture Fades

The more you play set the longer it will last, it sounds like you may have poor connections, cold solder joints try soldering around flyback transformer.
