Not recommended to do. The coils are factory stretched out in exact placement on the ceramic holders and disturbing them could cause a fire..

How to clean sunbeam humidifier swm5250

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS (from the manual):

The following maintenance procedures must be routinely followed in order to ensure proper, efficient operation of your humidifier. The unit WILL NOT WORK CORRECTLY if it is not cleaned properly.

When the unit is in use, daily and weekly maintenance is recommended. Regular weekly cleaning prevents scale buildup on the heating element and base. It also prevents micro-organisms from growing on the base. This ensures that maximum efficiency will be achieved.

We cannot over-emphasize how essential proper cleaning is to the maintenance and continued use of your unit and to the the avoidance of algae or bacteria build-up.

DAILY MAINTENANCE
Allow to cool before maintenance.
1. Before cleaning, set the control to OFF (O) position and unplug the unit from the electrical outlet.
2. Remove the water tank then unlock the misting chamber by rotating the safety lock towards the front of the unit. Lift mist chamber from the unit's base.
3. Empty water and minerals from the base and place in the top rack of the dishwasher. This will remove any sediment and dirt that has accumulated in the base.
NOTE: It is imperative that the base is cleaned properly. The base is dishwasher safe (top rack ONLY) for easy cleaning.
4. Wipe the heating element clean with a soft cloth after it has had a chance to cool.
5. Replace misting chamber and engage safety lock. The Electronic Thermal Control Heating element is lined with a coating that is designed to provide the easiest cleaning and prolong the operating efficiency of the humidifier. DO NOT use any metal or hard objects to clean the Heating Element. Never use detergents, gasoline, kerosene, glass cleaner, furniture polish, paint thinner or other household solvents to clean any part of the humidifier.

WEEKLY MAINTENANCE
Remove Scale: Allow to cool before maintenance.
1. Repeat steps 1-5 in the Daily Maintenance section.
2. Clean the tray by partially filling the base with one 8 oz. cup of undiluted white vinegar. Let solution stand 20 minutes, cleaning all interior surfaces with a soft brush. Dampen a cloth with undiluted white vinegar and wipe out entire base to remove scale.
3. Rinse with clean warm water to remove scale and the white vinegar solution before beginning to disinfect the tank.
4. Wipe the heating element clean with a soft cloth after it has had a chance to cool.

Disinfect Tank:
1. Fill tank with 1/2 teaspoon of chlorine bleach and 1/2 gallon of water.
2. Let the solution stand for 20 minutes, swishing every few minutes. Wet all surfaces.
3. Empty the tank after 20 minutes, and rinse well with water until the bleach smell is gone. Dry with a clean cloth of paper towel.
4. Refill the water tank with cool water; replace the housing and water tank. Repeal ALL Operating Instructions.

I have a Bosch nextt 500 series dryer and after 2 years of use the problem I have is the heat will shut off and the dryer will keep running and I have to press the reset button on the backside of the dryer

Open the front panel, remove heat exchanger and clean. also clean out lint tray. this might help a little. Now lets check if the thermal sensor or heating element needs to be replaced.
Unplug the dryer. remove the panel in the back of the dryer that covers the heating element. ( the inner panel). On top of the heating element you will see a thermal sensor with a small red button on it. Thats the manual reset button. To test if the heating element is working properly you can disconnect the wires from the sensor and clip the connectors together . Plug the dryer back in and start it. pay attention to the heating element. It should begin to glow shortly. if it doesn't then your heating element is bad and needs to be replaced.

Unplug the dryer. Connect the wires back to the thermal sensor. Plug the dryer back in. Before you start the dryer, press the red button on the thermal sensor. Start the dryer. If the heating element doesn't come on and dryer doesn't heat, then you need to replace that sensor.

What cause the water heater to take more than an hour to heated up and unable to last longer. Usually its take about 15 min. to heat up and can last longer.

'Rheem 81VP15S point of use' is a single-element, 15 gallon, 120V electric.
Other 'point-of-use' sizes range from 2-1/2 to 6 gallon to 20 gallon.

Electric water heaters have 2 parts: thermostat and element. One is not functioning correctly. Most likely the element caused by sediment build-up.

How to determine if tank has element or thermostat problem:
Do not turn off water going into tank. Put hose on drain valve. Open drain valve. Does water come out like open spigot? If water does not flow, then heater is likely clogged with sediment.

Solution 1: If water flows out like a spigot, the thermostat is probably bad. Read: How to replace thermostat.

Solution 2: Water does not flow, so element is surrounded by sediment build-up and cannot heat water. You need to clean out tank with shop vac, and put in new element ... plan full day and 3 trips to hardware store. Simply draining tank will not remove sediment. Sediment is chunky and will not come out voluntarily.

Buy element before starting:
-Turn off electricity
-Open cover on side of tank, remove insulation (these have to be put back for proper operation of thermostat)
-The are 2 electrical parts >>the element and the thermostat which is located above element
-Element wattage is printed on element and also shows on label on side of tank
-I think Rheem element is held in place with 4 hex bolts
-Take photo of element to hardware store so you have part on hand before removing old element
-If element is 1-1/2' diameter hex type, you need inexpensive element wrench from hardware store + the element

Drain tank and clean sediment:
-Read: To open drain on water heater so water comes out
-Read: How to clean sediment out of water heater

Dryer starts (heat on) after 5-8 minutes heating cycle stops and only cool air run through.

your heating element need to be cleaned.......

1. pull the unit out from the wall
2. Remove the screws holding on the larger rear panel.
3. Using a vacume cleaner extension, remove as much debris as possible from all accessible components.
4. Clean out the dryer vent and the connection to the wall, making sure that air can pass easily.

THAT SHOULD DO YA. If the heat continues to cut off, you are dealing with a faulty heating element in which case you will be best off to purchase a new dryer. (replacing a heating element is typically the beginning of a failing unit)

My Maytag Dryer model DE308 takes 2 hours to dry a load of clothes. I have air flow, but after an hour, the clothes are still damp. THe dryer does not have the heat that it used to. I know that with the...

Good day,
Your right on the heating element.
If your positive the vent system to the outside is clean, then
Remove the front panel of the dryer, and inspect the blower wheel. If worn on the shaft(slipping), it needs replaced.
2. Remove the whole front panel to access the blower housing and the chute going to the lint filter. Clean as needed. (common problem).
3. If everything checks clean, then the thermostat that is mounted on top of the heating element canister is the most common problem but is only one of the thermostats.

Maytag uses a lot of air versus heat for drying. That is why it is important that part of the system is correct.

A grounded element on an electric dryer is an element that has broken and the element heating wire has touched something metal, like the cage that is suppose to hold the element or the element metal housing around the element. What this does is, the element only heats on the section that is touching the metal part and usually this part of the element is only heating at about 1/2 heat output. An grounded element can also stay on even when the dryer is not in use!!
