Change upper light bulbs on hampton bay model 560-084

I changed the lower light - halogen bulb. How do I change the upper bulbs? This is a 54 inch fan with a "light chamber(?)" above the fan itself.

How do I change the light bulb in a model 66266

It twists off counterclock wise. If that doesn't work, try spraying some WD-40 around the glass. Wipe off excess oil.

Replace the lights

Apparently - there's some "trick" to changing these light bulbs as others have the same problem - but get smart-alec answers like "unscrew them" - not much help.

Hampton Bay is made by JRA Furniture and distributed (exclusively?) by Home Depot. The customer support number for Hampton Bay is:

1-877-527-0313

Someone can help between the hours of 8A - 8P Monday - Friday Eastern. No one is available on Saturday and Sunday (and presumably holidays). You could probably get help in the store, too.

I hope this helps & good luck!

We have a hampton bay ceiling fan model 54cvt. We cant figure out how to change the light bulb or change the direction of the blades. We dont have a manual for the fan.

This fan is also known as the Hampton Bay Covington 54 Ceiling Fan. You need to turn the globe anti clockwise until it comes out. The full instruction manual can be found here.

If you have another fan model other than the Hampton Bay 54CVT then try here

Light kit has light bulb size that I cannot find bulbs for

Melanie, you must have gotten a bad batch of bulbs. I have installed over 100 Hampton Bay ceiling fans and I have dropped them from up the ladder and have them bounce across the floor with no damage. I think they must have allowed a substandard batch to go out.

Home Depot is where I buy my replacement bulbs. Hampton Bay make fans exclusively for HD.

You can easily change lighting bases, as the wiring is the same for all Hampton Bay. You may even appeal to Hampton Bay on the internet and they might send you the kits. But I don't think you'd have success in a store.

If you try replacing them with bulbs from another Home Depot you may find them much hardier. I wish you the best of luck, and if you need additional help please write back.

Changing light bulb in ceiling fan

At the top of the pull chain there is a metal piece; this is threaded on a bolt. Unscrew the metal piece and lower the globe to expose the bulbs then remove and replace the bulb(s). I recommend flourescents as they are more economical, run cooler and last linger than incandescents (regular bulbs).

Palm beach 48"

Me too. I went back to Home Depot. They gave to me the phone number for Hampton Bay - 1-877-527-0313. I will call them tomorrow after they open to see what the deal is. it looks to me like the JDE11 is a mini-candelabra base. The lady in the fans at Home Depot said that all of the light kits were changing to the smaller based halogen lights. BUT, you'd think that they'd carry the light bulbs that have to go in the light kits they sell!!!

Diminished light

When our 2-year-old niece got hold of our Hampton Bay fan remote, we learned from her actions that holding down the button that controls the upper or lower light will, after a pause, either brighten or dim that light. Our fan is older than yours, but perhaps yours works the same way?

Hampton Bay ceiling fan with pull chains not working

Whether there is a reset switch on this unit or not would depend on the model. If you no longer have the owners manual you should be able to get it from the hampton web site. Many fans have a thermal fuse inline that probably was blown when the bulb broke. The cheaper models do not and then I would guess you burned out the switch.
