Whirlpool GSQ9669LW1 washer. Originally Load Size was set to small. After water was filled to that level and machine started to work, wanted to add more water. Turned the Load Size knob to Medium, nothing...

You would have to start the wash cycle all over in order to get enough water for the med load size. Once the washer starts it cycle you have to cancel that cycle to start a new one. Hope this is a help to your question

Pull the knob off and look at it. You will probably find that the knob is bad.Hope this fixed your problem. If not the knob then the switch is bad.

Washing Machine wont recoginze the load amount to fill with water, ex..small, med, it justs keep filling up to the brim??

Sounds like your problem is one of three things. Most common is that you have to "reset" the water level. This is done by turning the water level knob passed the large load size, and then down to small. Any time you want to go to a smaller sized load, you have to do this. Another possibility is that the pressure switch is bad, this is an easy fix (although not as easy as the reset) The switch can be purchased thru a local parts supply house. And the last thing could be a bad water valve. This will leak and continue to fill the washer after it is already full, this however is usually followed with water all over the floor. If it is not the reset, write me back and I'll walk you thru the other repairs. Hope this helps!

Won't stop filling, water just keeps running into washer even after agitation starts have to turn water connection off to stop filling

check to make sure the control knobs are turned to exactly small -med -or large - if it's in the middle of say med and large loads the water will over flow - this happened to us three times (cause of daughter!)

Check the other knob or switch on top. Perhaps it has some settings regarding small, medium, or large load. This switch may be defective. Go to
