Make sure the feed dogs are up. Check that the stitch length is set high enough for the fabric to actually advance.

Singer sewing machine model 1425 feeder foot wont advance fabric

Not knowing this exact model or your history with this specific machine, I'll just toss out the following info.

If feeder dogs are not stepping, none of the following applies to your problem. Otherwise;

I believe the 1425 does not have dog up/down selection, therefor it uses stitch length zero (or about) to keep the feeder dogs below the needle plate when embroidery/darning.

Assuming feed dogs are stepping (rotary reciprocation), adjust stitch length toward a longer setting. Eventually this should raise the height of the feed dog step to a point above the needle plate thereby feeding the fabric.

So if choosing a longer stitch length feeds fabric, either the feed dog height needs adjusted, or something else has caused feed dogs to be lower than normal (additional repairs).

My sewing machine wont RUN. The needle goes up and down but the material wont move along.

under the foot around the needle, there should be two rows of what look like teeth, these pull the material through and there will be an adjustment mechanism on the machine. Try leaving the foot up while you run the machine, you should see the teeth going up and down; if they are it is most likely just a case of setting up the amount of pull. I think it is adjusted with the wheel that sets the length of stitch.

Husqvarna 2000 SL having trouble straight stitching fabric wont feed through - if does if I go backwards, any suggestions

make sure the machine is not in the darn position,, if it's in the sew position then it would be a good idea to have the machine checked to see if there is something wrong with the feed dog,, cause the feed dogs are suppose to move the fabric through so the needle can sew it

I have an old Singer sewing machine, (I cant find a model number for anywhere on it) that wont feed fabric. I know some have a darning option, but I cant for the life of me find such a thing on this...

Thge most common fault is the needle plate is not on properly if you have a magnetic plate, you may have a drop feed mechanism in the bobbin case area.

Presser foot will not feed and the thread wont catch

The presser foot is not suppose to feed. It's purpose is to hold the fabric in place as the feed dogs feed the fabric from the front to the back of the machine as stitches are formed.

Check the needle to be sure it is installed with the flat side of the needle shank facing the back of the sewing machine.

Refer to your manual to be sure the bobbin thread is feeding from the bobbin spool in the correct direction and through the guides.

Pull the bobbin thread up by lowering the threaded needed down and then back up. Pull both threads under the presser foot and to the back of the machine.

Set the stitch length to 2.

Place a scrap of fabric under the presser foot. Holding onto the ends of both threads, lower the needle into the fabric for the first stitch.

If the machine still does not stitch, the machine may need to go in for maintenance as the timing may need to be adjusted.

If the feed dogs are not moving, this also needs to be repaired by sewing machine service tech.
