SOURCE: 6140 will not complete the AUTO SETUP

If you would like to bypass the auto setup which is apparently the root cause, use a test cd/dvd for your test tones. The auto setup while convenient is not the optimal way to get the best result as the test tones it uses are bandwidth limited pink noise. If you would like to use the auto calibrate however, it's likely needing repair to do so.

Fpe1906dv picture but no sound

Hi Ted,

This kind of symptoms indicated of fault either the internal speakers or the earphone jack itself. To isolate where the fault came from, the speaker's resistance inside the set needs to check using the multimeter/ohmmeter.
Watch the video below to give you an idea how to test the speakers.

If the speakers are in good condition, then the fault came from the earphone jack itself. It has a built-in switch that will open/closed once you plug in your headset to cut the sound coming to the internal speakers of the TV and hear the sound only to your headset. The problem is, if the contact stuck or dirty, the sound will not pass through the speakers. You have to spray it with electrical contact cleaner while inserting and pulling the headset plug to clean the contact.

Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!

Power up problems

It sounds like the power is pulsing - that would explain your speakers. Speakers wouldn't make that sound if they were getting power at a steady rate. Look for a bad capacitor. It's possible you have one or more capacitors that have gone bad. They charge to a certain point, then somehow complete a circut momentarily and discharge, giving a pulsing flow of electricity. You can look for visible signs (leaking capacitors, or capacitors that are leaning over), or you can just start testing them with a voltmeter. If you find a bad one, you'll have to get a replacement and solder it in place.

No sound

Hello
If picture is OK and there is no sound output from your tv, means either its speaker or the Sound output Ic is not working. The case of speaker fault can be easly detected without opening the TV. You just place your ear very near to the speaker side and switch on the TV by AC mains [not with remote control]. You may hear a "thumb" SOUND OR A "HUM" sound from it. If any one is there the internal speaker is working fine. The fault lies in audio output Ic stage. If there is no sound said above, speaker can be suspected. Befor confirming that the speaker is faulty, if your TV has an earphone or headphone jack in front, insert the earphone or headphone socket into it, and check whether there is any sound heard from it. If there is sound from headphone, means that the headphone socket is faulty, it does not bypass the sound to the speaker. When head phone is connected, the connection to the speaker will automatically cut of. When it is pulled out from the socket, the speaker connection will resume. If the changeover switch inside the earphone socket also show this kind of trouble. If the speaker inside is found faulty, unscrew it out of place after opening the TV, go for a same type and number, impedence and shape.
If there comes the above said "HUM" sound from the speaker, surely the Sound Output Ic is faulty. Replacing it will solve the probelm. Before replacing it, check it soldering points for any loose contact. It is best to resolder all suspected point is sound section before replacing the ic.
Note: In modern TVs there will be any trace of sound, without a video signal. Without video, sound is muted. ok.

I have a ADF-242 that is having sound output problems

If the car was running when testing sub and heard noise this could be engine noise and an inline filter would cure that problem and also have a good ground no more than 15 inches away from the amp.And good metal contact for ground.

Problem for Pioneer VSX-818V-K 5.1 Channels Receiver Surround sound doesn't work, display reads 2CH IN,surround speakers are enabled, automatic test will find surrand speakers

Test with an surround sound media ie. Blu-ray or DVD)_. Disconnect the front and all other speakers that are working to see if sound from the missing speakers are heard. If this doesn't work then start by tracing and checking all the wires from the receiver to the speakers for bad/shorted/open connections.

PLEASE VOTE IF THIS WAS HELPFUL. THANKS & GOOD LUCK.

When I turned on my Toshiba tv today, it has no

Sounds like the speakers have died, it's muted at the source (cable box / satellite box if you have one) or that the cable for audio is loose. Check those three things starting with the last one and you will be able to pin point it.

I bought a Logitech webcam and the sound won't come though. It states my input level is not high emough but I can't find it to change it please

My understanding is that a webcam is only a webcam not a webcam+mic (mic=microphone for sound to be input) unless your webcam has video and sound capabilities.

1. get a mic
2. if you webcam is supposed to be also a mic, (I have yet to see one of those myself) you should hook up the connector for the microphone (usually a a red trs plug/connector) to your pc.
3. make sure your have run the video/sound wizard of your instant message application to test your video, mic and speakers. (to see, talk and be heard and hear what the others are saying)

are you trying to hear what the other person is saying when having a video conversation?
1. check your speakers are properly connected, powered and turned on.
2. check your speakers (and mic aswell) are not muted (check your speaker icon on the system tray and check your volume controls by doing right and/or left click on the speaker icon on the system tray.
3. make sure your have run the video/sound wizard of your instant message application to test your video, mic and speakers. (to see, talk and be heard and hear what the others are saying)
4. make sure your sound adapter's drivers are installed and your device is working properly (check device manager by going to start>run> type devmgmt.msc the press enter and make sure that under sounds you don't have any ? (no drivers) or ! driver problem for your sound adapter.
