Makita LS1013 110V feels underpowered. What could have caused this? Brushes are barely worn.

How underpowered? running at half speed? If so check the wiring in the 110v plug. I have seen saws come into the workshop where 1 of the wires is connected to earth pin this results in 55v being fed to saw hence 1/2 speed. Is there heavy arcing at the commutator? if yes armature probably blown. If not still worth examining armature for discolouration, examine field coils at same time if everything seems ok then a possibility is the controller. You could try by passing the controller and if saw seems to run better then you know you need a new controller. It is located at the back of the motor. If you are not sure about electrics do not try this you may electrocute your self or blow the controller.

How do u change out bushes on a makita ls1013

there are 2 black screw caps on the outside of the tool that need to be removed. USE a good quality blade and right size to avoid chipping the caps. UNPLUG TOOL first and remove the old ones and replace with new and reassemble. They might arc for a short period of time depending on the commutator wear. Run at NO LOAD for about 10 minutes. Let me know if you still have a problem

My LS1013 saw head is in the down storage position and will not raise up. It is not pinned.

you need to depress it fully to disengage the lock. If the head does not depress enough there is a screw that you would need to loosen on the left hand side to allow for the head to travel lower. Make sure there is nothing under the blade to affect movement before trying bolt.

You will need to lock, the spindle, and use a puller, and maybe even heat to get it apart depending on how worn damage etc?
