How do I get sky from my set top box to work in a different room, I am trying to get my sky to work on a TV in a different room ? I have wired up TV coax cable from my sky box in sitting room and run

Hi Jim,
Here In my place in India, you can attach only one tv to the sky set top box. That too with AV cables. The program or channel changing is done by box only. The tv works as a monitor and has no role in program selection. You can attach a second tv to the box not through antenna cable but through AV cables only. That too if the box is having second set of output sockets. In that case both the TVs will receive the same programmes. To watch different programmes on the second tv you will have to go for an additional box.

Tip

Watch your SKY channels on a second TV with Magic Eye and remote

If you have Sky Multi-room this will feed a separate SKY signal from your LNB on your dish to a second SKY box if you have the basic this will not cost you anything you still need a card inserted in the front to make this work. I think it costs £5 extra for more channels.

So if you have SKY + you will have 3 coaxial cables coming out of your LNB. ( 2 for the SKY + and 1 for the Multiroom )

To ger the signal for free the easy way is to connect a coaxial cable from the RF2 output on the back of the SKY ot SKY+ box into another TV and use a SKY Magic Eye these cost about £5 and have a range of about 20 meters. You can use a coaxial splitter to feed two TV but you will loose more signal the more you connect.

You will need to turn this function on using the hidden menu to allow you to use the Sky Remote control then LED on the unit will show you that there is a signal.

Press <SERVICES> <4> <0> <1> <SELECT> and goto the RF2 output to turn the signal on you might find that this signal is already turned ON for you.

Note: If you are using a multiplex faceplate unit this signal will not work as it relies on continuity of the coaxial cable with a 12V DC signal being sent out of the back of the SKY Box.

For all setups changing you Box model or adding an extra box SKY must to this for you by having your phone line connected so they can reprogram your Smart Card.

I have sky tv and a marantz system, marantz system flashes pcm dig and tv loose signal intermittently, help

Your Sky box might need a firmware refresh. Switch it off at the mains socket. Press and hold down the BACKUP key on the SKY BOX (not the remote). Switch on at the mains and keep the backup key pressed down until the TV shows an info screen that the box is updating.

Allow the box to complete the cycle.

Try your system again.

Baird tv

Two things you can try:
Check the remote control and press the button for Digital input. Someone may have set the tv to expect an analogue signal from the aerial while you were pouring your wine. Because the analogue tv signal has been switched off the tv won\'t be receiving anything off-air. It will need setting back to digital to receive Freeview.

OR

The television set may be dropping itself into "AV" mode and is expecting an input through a SCART or HDMI socket. Sometimes an external device (video or DVD player) will hijack the television if the set-up hs been configured for this. Try unplugging all external devices (Sky box, DVD, VCR, games console or whatever you have plugged in). Make sure that the telly is configured to digital input and tuned to BBC1. Then see if the it will show the programme.
If the television is actually broke then you should return it if it\'s still under guarantee.

Can record Sky programmes but not view live.

You must connect up the TV to the SKY box, via Audio Visual cables too, in order to watch, recorded programs. You need to hook, up, Component, HDMI, or Composite, You select it by an EXTERNAL channel.
Connect the cable running from the wall into the "In" port on the Sky Box HD receiver. This cable brings in the signal to your receiver. Make sure the cable is securely fastened to the receiver, otherwise you might experience image and audio issues.
Attach an HDMI cable into the HDMI port on the Sky Box HDTV receiver. The HDMI is a single cable that provides both HD audio and video signals.
Plug the other end of the HDMI cable into an available HDMI port on the HDTV.
Power on the HDTV and the Sky Box HDTV receiver. Press the "HDMI" button on the TV's remote control. This will display the cable contents of the HD receiver onto the television.
