My exersise bike sudenly stoped pedalling. Looks like the cranck pedall is stiff and the belt eont turn but the flywheel is oing great. How do i fix this.

im certain that model has a 3 piece crank set up. the inner crank bearing jam nut has loosened up or the bearings themselves have gone bad.first check to see if its tight, if it is then it will require a replacement set of bearing that are a pretty standard size to all bikes and can be purchased at nearly every bike shop.

SOURCE: No resistance when I pedal the stationary exercise bike

Hi,

I looked into this thinking is must be a simple belt, or tention wheel, but these devices are much more complex than the average exercise machine. See the Recumbent selection here.

It appears that the tentioning device is a magnetic brake.
This would require that it be plugged into a power source and programmed to provide a desired tention.
I've never used one of these so I can't say what kind of programming options there are or where they are found.

SOURCE: remove the pedals from a boys huffy bike

Bike pedals can be a little tricky, but most likely for that bike you will need a 9/16's wrench. There should be some flat surfaces inboard of the pedals between the crank arm (the long arm that you screw the pedals into). Now, here's the hard part - the R pedal is normally threaded, but the L pedal is reversed. The easiest way to remember which way to turn the wrench is to stand behind the rear wheel and you will always pull the wrench towards you to loosen. Depending on how long the pedals have been on, they might be pretty tough to get off. You could use some penetrating spray (like Liquid Wrench) and let that sit for awhile. Also, once you get the pedals off, remember to put a little grease on the threads so that next time they won't be so tough!.

Yes, something isn't turning freely. It's either the front wheel, the back wheel, or the pedals and chain. Lift the bike off the ground and turn the front wheel by hand. If it doesn't turn very freely, it could be the hand-brake is dragging or the hub bearing is too tight. Try the back wheel in both directions. It should move freely in the forward direction. When rolling it backwards it is normal for the pedals to move too if this bike has a coaster brake (that is the kind of brake that is applied by pushing the pedals backwards.) It the back wheel moves forward freely, but backwards is a problem, then try the pedals by hand with the rear wheel off the ground. If this doesn't turn freely, the pedal crank bearing (a.k.a. bottom bracket) is too tight. Once you have identified the problem take it back to where you got it. It should be easy to fix, or they should replace it.

Life gear exercise bike


This bike looks to be of the Lemond Revmaster series.

first, dial the resistance knob back until the leather break pad is no longer touching the flywheel. Get down on the floor and postion yourself between the flywheel and pedal cranks. Slowly turn the cranks arms and listen and feel for a roughness in the bike.

This has bike has bearings and a belt. It should not make any noise.

Remove the screws or bolts securing the ends of the pedals to the crank axles. Slide the ends of the pedals off the axles. Remove any screws or bolts securing the left and right disc shields to the base unit. Pull or pry the disc shields off the base unit and set them aside.

Remove any screws or bolts securing the left and right side shields to the base unit. Detach the side shields and set them aside. Examine the interior of the base unit and locate the drive belt.

Pull the drive belt free of the crank pulley, flywheel and any other pulleys. Discard the old drive belt and install a new belt in its place. Turn the crank axles by hand to confirm that the belt will turn smoothly when the device is in use.Detach the ends of the pedals from the crank axles. Spread a layer of machine grease over the crank axles, then reattach the ends of the pedals.

Remove the bolts connecting the pedals to the swing arms. Detach the pedals from the arms, then spread a layer of machine grease over the axles on the swing arms. On some models, the bolts may also serve as the axles. Reattach the pedals to the arms.

thrust bearings are bad and the flywheel is moving out of range of the crankshaft sensor, or the crankshaft sensor is sitting too close to the flywheel.

Pedal Arms

Step 2:

LUBRICATION

Prepare to oil by filling a grease gun with lithium grease. Check your owner's manual for the exact type of grease for your unit.

Locate where it is you need to lubricate. Focus on the bearings, free-moving joints and attachments with moving parts such as handle bars, wheels, pedals arms and guide rails. Go to each location one by one when greasing.

Unfasten the bolts or screws that hold the joint or attachment that you wish to lubricate.

Grease each bolt and screw liberally. Tighten each bolt and screw back into its place when finished.

Wipe away any excess greas




Step 3:

Drive Belt

Remove the screws or bolts securing the ends of the pedals to the crank axles. Slide the ends of the pedals off the axles. Remove any screws or bolts securing the left and right disc shields to the base unit. Pull or pry the disc shields off the base unit and set them aside.

The pedals on my Nordic Track SL700 turn completely free. I think I need to replace the crank assembly but cannot seem to get into it. Is this bike worth the price of a new crank assembly part?

Older proform crosstrainer ( recumbent bike ) just assembled from box and when I pedal grating sound from pedal area?
