First check to see if your hard drive is seated properly..
if ok try to access dos prompt at start (f8 )
try startup in safe mode
try repair disk with checkdisk (chkdsk)
in a dos prompt
if all fails your drive probably has bad sectors or missing sys files or otherwise corrupted...
download a prog called spotmau(free to try)...
create a boot disk with the software(everything is part of the package to show you how)
once you have a boot disk startup pc with bootdisk in cd drive....
when software starts you will have many options to repair almost anything that can go wrong.
the only better software for repairing damaged disks is hdd partition which will repair the most difficult to fix disks(hd)
