First - try different SD cards to be sure it is not the card at fault. I assume it is showing up in Windows Explorer - it should be shown as a Removable Drive with a drive letter - on mine it is G: - Note that autoplay might be turned off, so any inserted card may not pop-up automatically. Assuming the card is fine and it fails to show up in Windows Explorer, or if the drive itself is not in Windows Explorer, look in the device manager to be sure the SD reader device is being recognized by windows and if it is enabled - if it says disabled on not working properly, try to reinstall the driver. In my device manager, it shows up under Disk drives as a multi-card USB device and under Portable devices, it shows up as G:/. Alternatively, go to the HP site and see if there is an updated driver - if so, download and install that, reboot and test it again. IF these all fail, it could be a hardware problem.
This is where you would take the sd or xd card out of your digital
camera and place it in the slot to download the pictures from the camera
to the computer.
Another way of getting pictures from the camera to the computer is that
most cameras come with a cable that connects to the camera and the other
end to one of the usb ports on the computer. Once you have the cable
connected turn the camera on and the computer will recognize the camera
as a device. You can then search the camera folders for the pictures
you want to put on the computer. This way you don't have to take the sd
or xd card out of the camera.
SD card might be damaged. Try another one first. If this is not the problem, go to contro lpanel, then system, then hardware, then device manager. Uninstall the sd card reader, then reboot. Windows will find it and reinstall the driver.
r u able to see the SD card in my computer if yes chk the free space in it if its empty then right click on sd card icon and formatt it it will erase all the data from ur sd card and then it should copy
I had a similar problem with a nextar X4-T, which has it's maps on an SD card. If your GPS uses an SD card for it's maps, you can try this:
You will need a computer with an SD slot, and running Windows Xp. I tried the following method on a computer running Windows Vista, and it did not work. I tried again on an older Xp machine, and it worked first time.
Put the SD (Map) card in the computer's SD slot.
Open Windows "explore". (RIGHT click on "Start", then select "explore"
Locate your disk on the file menu.
RIGHT click on the map disk
A menu pops up.
At the bottom of the menu, select "properties"
Another menu pops up, with several tabs along the top.
Select the tab that says "tools".
In the "error-checking" section, select "Check Now"
Another menu pops up.
Select the box that says 'Automatically fix file system errors".
The program will only take a few seconds to run. If it works, you will see the file directories of the SD card display on the "Explore' screen. You can then put the SD card back in the GPS, and see if it works.
1) There is SD card reader on pavilion dv 1000, so you need adapter in which you insert mini SD card to make it SD 2) If you have that adapter, check adapter. Maybe it's broken. 3) If your card is biger, like 2GB or higher you may try updatenig drivers (I read on one web page: "
There was a software update for support of reading and using higher memory SD cards, for my pavilion ZV5000, on the HP Software update website." )
