Just got in my 2001 santa Fe tonight. Started ok, then started shuddering and check engine light went on. Didn't seem to want to accelerate. What could be the problem

this seems to be an engine pressure loss. a leakage in the headgasket or headgasket busy blowing. an engine gets it's power through the pressur it builds up. no pressure, no power. a good mechanic should help you. don't take it to hyundai. they will rip you off. shouldn't be an expensive exercise. otherwise it could be the 4weel drive system busy saying goodbuy. a secondhand unit shouldn't be too hard to find. may be a little expensive though. it can also make the car not to accelerate. good luck.

My cruise control will suddenly stop working and the cruise light

I had a similar problem and it turned out to be the brake fluid level. This may be an answer. Also have you had the brakes checked. The cruise control is integrated with the brakes. Any little thing wrong with them effects the cruise.

2003 nissan xtrail accelorator sticks will not return to idle speed

Had same problem on a Nissan Patrol, happens more to me in winter time when some rust builds up around the cable (because the little rubber thing that prevents dirt from getting in the cable sleeve disappeared a long time ago - Normally I just lubricate it and it remains fine for another 8-10 months). Check accelerator cable for dents or splinters, if it seems ok, lubricate it and assemble again. If not, replace cable.

Engine revving problem

Sounds like your idle speed is way too high, should be somewhere around 800-1200 rpms. I would check for vacuum leaks.
