i just got a new refrigerator and the freezer wont defrost. This started at the very beginning. A couple of weeks later the refrigerator starting getting to warm and my food started spoiling. I've checked the temperature and it seems to be staying between 52-56 degrees.
the evaporator coils in the freezer are iced up. either someone left the door ajar for a while, you didn't let the fridge sit empty and turned on for a day before filling it, there is an obstruction in the evaporator drain causing water to pool and freeze on the coils, or your evaporator fans are not working. you need to unplug the unit and either: 1- let it set with the doors open and defrost with the ambient air (and soak up the excess water under the fridge); 2- find the back wall where the frost is, take the screws out and remove the wall, and use warm water to melt the ice on the coils (and soak up the excess water); or 3- use hot air (hair dryer). be careful with the hair dryer. just enough to melt the ice and not to heat up the fins and tubing. clean up any extra water inside, check the drain under the coils for obstructions, make sure the fan works, empty the fridge, turn it on, close it, and fill it tomorrow. also, there is a self-defrost timer on the fridge. look in the manual for it's location and setting.

I have Whirlpool fefrigerator model GS5SHAXNL00, the maker used to work for a while and stop for a while leaving the ice jamed in the mold. Mechanic found the know on the side of the icemaker broken. I replaced with brand new icemaker but now I noticed the water is not filling when you get water on the door. Any solution?

This thing runs almost constantly but unless it has a separate compressor for the freezer and another for the refrigerator, the compressor seems to working fine. The freezer side stays at a temperature well below "frozen" (roughly 5
degrees below zero F). On the hand, I can't get the refrigerator to go much below +50
degrees F. I have the freezer set at the lowest available setting (highest temperature) which is 1 on the scale of 1 to 4. I have the refrigerator set at the highest available setting (lowest temperature) which is 4 on a scale of 1-4. If I close the freezer and the refrigerator doors at the same time, both the freezer & the refrigerator doors will **** themselves in evenly but after a short period of time the refrigerator door seems to lose its seal and will stick out maybe a quarter of an inch beyond the freezer door. If I just open and close the refrigerator door by itself it doesn't **** in at all and still sticks out beyond the freezer door that same quarter of an inch. Are there air passages that move air between the two compartments that maybe could get blocked (maybe full of ice or something) and in doing so keep the colder air from the freezer side from reaching the refrigerator side & the warmer air from the refrigerator side from reaching the freezer side?
