SOURCE: Verbatim USB 8GB file copy problem

ITS virus problem which is playing with the inf file of the usb drive.
also another possibility is 1) the usb port ihas loose connections and disconnects i between drive sensing
2) certain 8 gb drives go back to a capacity of 2 gb drive if one formats it accidentally .

SOURCE: My laptop does not recognize my verbatim 8gb flash drive

go to Control Panel, then to System Mgr and then Devices. Check to see if all are marked with +s. You probably have a - in that area. Click on the minus and see what it says. You may need to add a driver or reinistall the flash drive.

Verbatim 2 GB store n go says it has 918 MB of free space, but says 'disk is full' when I try to add files. I do not believe the store n go is partitioned. What gives?

If you can read the drive, Copy the information from it, into your computer, and format the drive, copy the files back, and it should work... also, if you have a security switch on the drive (write protection) you have to disable it.

Throw it away (after taking a hammer to it, so that any "data" on it will definitely _NOT_ be able to be recovered). Then, for less than $20, buy a replacement.

Or, check the manufacturer's web-site. If it is still under warranty, maybe they will replace it, at minimal cost to you.

Some Verbatims have a write protection switch on its side - make sure it's not activated. Then open the properties of the stick in My Computer. If in there the stick isn't set as read only then it has died - there's nothing more you can do to save it. Junk it and get a new one.
