Question about Frigidaire 24 in. FDB1050RE Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

Door opening too far.

I'm not sure what model Frididaire dishwasher I have, but when the door is opened all the way, it is not parallel to the floor, but slopes down toward the floor slightly. This causes the bottom rack to roll out rapidly and I've had to catch it on a few occasions so that it doesn't fly out onto the floor. The maintenance man at my apartment complex told me that the door sloping is normal. Is there a fix for this problem or is it indeed normal and I'll have to learn to live with it?

You need to adjust your door tention springs along the sides of the dishwasher. though they may need to be replaced altogether.

Write an equation in slope intercept form that passes through -4,-6 and is parallel to y=-5x+1

Let's break this down into a few parts first.

Slope intercept form is otherwise known as y = mx + b, where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.
Parallel means that the two lines will never meet. They are parallel to each other. In math terms, their slopes are the same, so the m values must be the same.

Starting with y = -5x + 1, putting into slope intercept form, y = mx + b, m = -5 and b=1.

Since it is parallel, it must have the same slope and the m values are the same.

So, y = -5x + b, but we don't know what the value of b is. To determine this, we know the point (-4,-6) is on the line that we are trying to find, so we can substitute it into the equation and calculate b to make it work.

Every time we see an x we put in -4 and every time we see a y, we put in -6.

-6 = -5(-4) + b
-6 = 20 + b
subtract 20 from both sides
-6 - 20 = 20 + b - 20
-26 = b
Now substitute this into the equation.

y = -5x + -26
Putting it into correct form, we get y = -5x - 26.

Let's check it to see if it is correct.

It has a slope of -5, so it is parallel to y=-5x + 1

Is the point (-4,-6) on the line? Let's substitute it in to see if it is on the line.

Again, everywhere we see an x, we put in -4 and everywhere we see a y we put in -6.

-6 = -5(-4) - 26
-6 = 20 - 26
-6 = -6

Sorry for the very long explanation, but after you do a few of them, you will be able to knock them off in minutes.

Good luck,

Paul

Why does door open too far and is not horizontal to the floor when open?

Besides spring streaches out over time or one rope breaks. Their are like three spots to hook spring to get tension for door. I just replaces both ropes as one broke and hooked springs in middle hole. Takes more time to pull washer out then to replace the ropes

Leaking from motor

Water Inlet Valve

If the dishwasher is leaking water the water inlet valve might be defective. If the water inlet valve sticks open, it will allow water to fill the dishwasher continuously. Some customers report that they see clean water filling the bottom of the dishwasher after it's been sitting all night or for a couple of days. If this happens, turn off the water that is supplying the dishwasher. This is normally a valve under the kitchen sink. Then, replace the water inlet valve, it cannot be repaired. The water valve needs at least 20 lbs pressure to shut off properly. If your water pressure is to low replacing the valve may not solve the problem.

Center Wash Arm Assembly

If the dishwasher is leaking water, the center wash arm assembly might be cracked or split. This can allow a jet of water to spray toward the door seal, causing a leak. If a crack or split in the center wash arm assembly is found, replace it. There isn't any glue that will hold the part together inside the dishwasher.

Lower Wash Arm Assembly

If the dishwasher is leaking water the lower wash arm assembly might be defective. If the lower wash arm has a crack or split on the end, it can force water to spray directly toward the lower part of the dishwasher door. Then, the water can be forced under the door and onto the floor. Check the lower wash arm for any cracks or splits and replace it if necessary. Also make sure the screws are tight in the wash arm support. If the screws are loose, water can spray out the side of the pump and cause a leak.

Upper Wash Arm Assembly

If the upper wash arm assembly is broken or cracked it can cause water to spray very forcefully toward the seams of the door, causing a leak.

Door Seal

Every dishwasher door has a door seal. If the dishwasher is leaking water, it might be that the door seal is defective or worn out. Try closing the dishwasher door on a dollar bill and see if the door seal is making good contact all the way around the door. If not, replace the door seal. If the door seal is good or has been replaced and there is still a leak check the door hinges. If the hinges are bent the door will not close properly and the hinges will need to be replaced.

Dishwasher shutting off during cycle, seems the door is not closed tight enough. If I apply pressure to hold the door tighter it will continue the cycle.

sounds like fatigued or tweaked hinges. Take a good look at the door when it's open without the bottom rack pulled out. It should be parallel to the floor. If it is past paralell... check hinges. See if they can be adjusted.

Well I'll try to help you get this opened. I don't know how much space you have at the top side edge of the dishwasher. You need a long stiff rod like a metal clothes hanger straightened so it can reach from the side to a little past the dishwasher middle. You need to push it in between the door top and the dishwasher body up at the latch area. What holds the door closed is a flat metal piece with a plastic hook on the end facing down towards the floor. You need to try and get the rod under the metal piece and lift it slightly, hopefully to unhook the the door. If you can't do that, the only alternative is to pull hard on the door handle and you should be able to break the plastic part of the latch which will then have to be replaced. The part that should break is the top hook which would be an easy replacement, but I can't be sure thats all the damage to the latch that will happen. It may do some damage to the part inside the door also. This is last resort. I'll try to attach a parts breakdown of the tub so you can see the latch hook. Look at item #50

Door closes to fast and sometimes re-opens by itself

A couple possibilities here. Make sure the door spring isn't broken. Your door is traveling too far in the down direction and when it hits the floor the safety sensor reverses it to the open position. The down limit adjustment is on the side of the motor unit.

Hello,

Sounds like the anti-flood device has kicked in this would suggest that there is either a leak under the machine or if you may have used too much rinse aid and it has frothed up and leaked under the door.
The screw in the middle is to lower the middle rear leg turn it towards the down or minus sign normally anti-clockwise.

Hope this helped.
