Question about Dell Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have a DELL 2407WFD-HC Color Monitor which I am now calibrating with a SPYDER3PRO. Spyder3Pro has asked if the monitor has: 1. Kelvin Presets, 2. Kelvin Slider, 3 RGB Sliders. I can't find this information in the manuals.

I think you have answered the quastion with the RGB Sliders. The Spyder3Pro is specifically asking to tick the following boxes:

    1. Kelvin Presets, 2. Kelvin Slider, 3 RGB Sliders. So I would only tick 3: RGB Sliders

The DELL 24"has the following controls on screen only:

    • Brightness & Contrast

    • Auto Ajust

    • Input Source

    • Preset Modes

    • Display Settings

    • Other Settings

    • PIP Settings (which are currently switched off - not sure if these should be on or not)

Tried that. I still do not get a clear answer to the specific question of which boxes to tick for the 'Identify Color Controls' for the Spyder3Pro.

Most LCD displays have a RGB slider.

if you open up the On screen display with the menu button on the display, look for the color adjustment it will most likely show you RED; GREEN; BLUE. thats RGB sliders.

Monitor color settings not being maintained

Sorry to hear you're having this issue, Josh. To clarify, you can get the proper colors if you set them manually, correct? If so, that rules out the possibility of a screen issue or a problem with the video card. I hope for your sake this is a new monitor for you (or at least one that would still be covered under warranty), for it sounds like it's a logic issue in the monitor itself that prevents saving of the proper settings as well as the distortion of the presets. I would return it if possible for a replacement/refund, as they seem to be a quality just looks like you got a defective one. Sorry I couldn't be of more help to you, but good luck! :)

Color temperature

If the monitor was set correctly at the factory, the color temperature should be close to whatever temperature the calibration tool reads. Your assumptions are correct as to the usual settings. Sometimes warm is near 4000k.

My 2001FP shows the contrast cotrol greyed out and the screen has very low contrast, which I need to correct. I use it with a Dell Inspion 9300. The laptop screen has excellent contrast. The 2001FP...

I have four Dell 2001FP monitors. The unavailable contrast is standard for this monitor when used with digital input (DVI). Make sure your brightness is at 100%.If you want a better result of dynamic range and color, the only effective option is color calibration. I use the inexpensive Huey Pro, available
several places, including eBay. Retail is around $100. It something one uses maybe twice a year, takes five minutes to install and use, and the results are notable. I'm a designer, and need excellent color. This is the best solution. Calibrate your laptop as well, and the color should be almost exactly the same between them.

As an alternative, you can use the color settings, select User Preset, and start with something around 40 red 43 green and 37 blue. Adjust proportionately upward until you get what you want.

Another possibility is to use a different connector cable if your laptop has that option, since your monitor an take four different input formats.

Good luck.

Viewsonic VE175b Monitor Powers Up Doesn't Display Windows OS

Hi; I had the same problem. I know that sometimes devices require you to perform some type of '10-30 second' "hold" of one or some of its buttons in order to 'reset' the device, so to speak. So, having said that, try this:

1) Turn your monitor off (no green light) but leave it plugged in.
2) Leave it off for about 10 seconds.
3) Hold the [2] button on your monitor (the one to the immediate LEFT of your monitor's POWER button).
4) While holding the [2] button, now press and HOLD your POWER button.
5) Wait for your image to appear and STAY onscreen for about 5 seconds, then release both buttons.
6) Your monitor should retain its onscreen image.

Hope this helps! Good Day to all!

Colors have gone wrong

There could be 3 reasons for this...

1. If color settings are changed from the computer...

try to reset to defaults

2. if colors are changed from monitor..

try to reset to factory defaults

3. If the Monitor cable is loose..

try differnt monitor if available with the same cable which is used to connect monitor and computer, or try using different cable on same monitor and computer.....
