Is it like that on all inputs and does it affect the tv menu ? If it does the panel is bad, if you don't have a warranty on it it will be cheaper just to buy a new tv (sad to say). I would check out sony's website they might have an extended warranty on panel. Good luck!

Suggest return or exchange. This is a newest model, and on factory warranty, if can't return or exchange, you have to complaint it until the panel is replaced. in fact, it is 90% panel defective. right now the LCD panel quality is too bad.

The LCD sets use backlights and also a pair (some models combine both into one unit) of inverters- one drives left side and the other right side.
You could have a bad inverter (some versions call it T-con) or even a bad display panel(main screen unit).
In most cases this is not a do it yourself repair.
