Re: Garmin not acquiriing satillites

Go to the Garmin Website and do an update. Make sure that you get GPS Chipset Type G update it is seperate from the regular update. This fixed my problem with never aquiring satellites.

Re: Garmin not acquiriing satillites

possibly the unit is set to 'use with gps off' mode

go to the satillite page and hit menu
select use 'gps on' then enter

make sure you let it re-find the satillites again before you move off

On My garmin gps 72H none of the buttons will work. EG I cannot change pages or turn off. Was working fine then changed batteries and this occured. Any suggestions??

I would read the owner manual first and then remove the batteries for a while and put back. This does not use recharge able batteries?

Garmin nuvi 1300lmt telling me to turn on streets that are not there, taking awhile to accquire satillites.

Make sure that your GPS unit has a clear vision of the sky. Usually sitting on your dash will be good. Finding the Satillites from a full power off can take anywhere from 1 to 4 minutes. Also, any outside obsticles can hurt GPS coverage such as trees and tall buildings.
As for the maps and being told to turn on wrong streets: I have had this happen too but not very often. Our roads are consistently being changed and the maps take longer to be upgraded.
This is not really a sollution but more of an explanation.

My Garmin GPSmap 76CSx was working just fine. After leaving it unused for a couple months with a pair of alkaline batteries installed, I tried to turn it on. It would not come on. I checked the battery...

Try connecting it to USB and powering it up, to confirm that unit still works overall. You probably damaged battery connectors. Check if you can clean the connectors better, otherwise you may need to do some soldering to fix them, by yourself or n a repair shop. Check with Garmin if they have suggestions: a leaking battery should not disable a GPS.

Just quits

I had the same problem (blank screen, vertical line). Per Garmin, turn off the WAAS function. Disable it for now, because the government has changed the WAAS signal coming from the satillite, and Garmin has not yet come out with a remedy to correct this problem yet. It should be out in a software update sometime in the future...............I did this and it corrected my problem immediately. The unit performs perfectly now, however, the accuracy is not as good, due to the lack of WAAS.......................

Question mark on screen

An external antenna should solve the problem.

Powerless garmin

When leaving the unit not powered up for so long, the internal battery may be damaged. The power supply will not start up if the internal battery is defective.

Sometimes the internal power supply may become defective in this case and must be replaced along with the battery. Contact the manufacture for details about how to get the unit serviced.

I have a Garmin 60csx that won't power up

On my GPSmap 60CSx the screen fades away after powering on - just like the battery is empty. Changed battery and used USB power. Always the same. When removing  the 2GB micro SD memory card then it comes up. Replaced the memory card and now it powers up fine. Seems that the memory card is damaged or causes a short circuit.

Distances are WAY wrong.

before you start running make sure you take the unit outside into the clear for a few minutes, dont just start running from inside a building or a new location

erase the track log if you can so that the data is only resuts from the current run

make sure you check the signal for the next few runs

(also run a few extra for me)
