Question about KitchenAid KAWS850L Top Load Washer

My washer fills the tub, but when it goes to next cycle just hums

I have a Kitchen Aid top load washing machine and it was working fine until we put a fairly large load in it. My wife noticed a burning odor and unplugged everything. I scooped out all the water and then checked things out. It all seemed to be in order so I plugged everything back in and tried the washer without clothes in it, the tub filled with water but onlly buzzes instead of advancing to the next cycle.

Your motor has failed.
Remove it from the washer to have it repaired or replaced.

Thanks

Just put all new hoses on y kenmore top loading washer machine went to fill and it almost overflowed no spin or any other cycle working

Your pressure switch stops the water and allows it to start the next cycle. It's a switch either in the control panel or at the top of the tub with a small tube connected to it which goes down between the inner and outer tub. As the water level increases the air in the tube is compressed until there is enough pressure to make the switch stopping the water from filling. This tube can get clogged and the switch won't work. Remove the tube and clean it out. Blowing on the tube when it's still connected to the switch will make the switch if it's working and clear.

Water inlet valve

If it fills with water and starts the cycle and the water keeps running in then your water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in is sticking. It needs replacing.

Washer stops at rinse cycle-hums and has a smell.

Problem is with your lid switch which has to be replaced. This is if your filter is all clean.

Clothes washer just makes a noise like a gear spinning ?

I was having the same problem with mine so I took it apart. There is a plastic coupler-like device that connects the drive motor to shaft which allows your "spin" cycle to commence. This coupler has posts in side it but they are under the little belt. My posts were all broken so the bottom piece of the coupler was spinning but the top was not, so it just made a humming noise. Washing machine will not go thru it's spin cycle.

I just replaced the 4 rubber straps on the tub. Washed a load and it worked fine. Washed a second load and it did not spin on the rinse cycle. Checked the wiring on the switches. All OK. What do I check next. Did I mess up something around the tub ?
