Question about Microwave Ovens

1 Answer

The Model #GG40T6A water heater about 7 years old has never gone out before. One morning it was out and we relit the pilot. It heated up and had hot water that day but was out by evening and has been out every day since even though it will light and heat for a few hours. The flame on the pilot seems week.

You have a bad thermo coupling, I would replace this and also clean area of pilot light of any carbon build up. This should solve problem you have. Come problem with gas appliances.

Not heating

If it sounds normal, but does not heat, you probably have a defective component in the high voltage circuit. If it's older than 7 years, or has been used to heat a lot of low water content food (popcorn or similar), then magnetron failure is a strong possibility. If it's not humming nearly as loud as before, though, you could have a bad relay, and the high voltage transformer may not be receiving power to its primary winding.

My microwave stop heating what could it be is it worth fixing

The magnetron is gone, or the inverter board, "if 7 years old or less" To answer your question, not worth fixing, cheaper to buy.

the magnatron has gone bad and maybe still under a warranty need to check with ge.if it is not then in most cases it is cheaper to go buy another microwave than to have it replaced.

The microwave is one year old and functions

If it's within the one year warranty, you can get it fixed free.

You didn't mention your manufacturer, so I would have to refer you to your owner's manual for their contact information.

So if you need more help, please post a NEW question, and please include your brand name and the full model number from the tag in or on the unit.

My 15 year-old RHEEM Warrior Model 71-40S forty gallon electric water heater is leaking, and the element also needs replaced. I am thinking it is likely time to get a new, energy-efficient model versus...

Rheem makes great products. Lowe's sells whirlpool brand and they are not all that bad for the money. I would buy something better than the budget 7 year warranty model though. My preferred choice is AO Smith. I would definitely replace your water heater if it is 15 years old- most don't go much longer than that, although mine is 27 years old and going strong! Please remember to make sure and extend your pressure relief valve down to within 6 inches of the floor when replacing the water heater as Code requires. A water heater blanket will also earn its keep in a short amount of time.

Have GE JVM2050 over the range microwave, which stopped heating food and water since this morning. All other functions including light, key pad, clock, turntable work normal. The magnetron sound also

if everything works except the heating, it is most likely the mag tube is on its way out.........that is the most common reason for it not too cook.......since the microwave is a GE and it is 3.5 years old, i would say you are better off buying a new microwave, the mag tube starts at around $70.00 and up + the labor it costs too have a service person put it in........around another $60.00

No heat

It can be both the heat fuse that gone or your pilot light has gone out, check to see if you see a flame while it is functioning, to do this turn on your dryer and watch in the dark so that you can actually see the flame coming on and off or check behind the little door that houses the pilot light to see if you see a flame if no flame relight, this should start your dryer producing heat again
