Re: surround sound

Electroguy is correct. Plug the L and R audio outs into the L and R audio inputs on your receiver. Then make sure that the internal settings on the TV are set to 'Surround Sound.'

Re: surround sound

To connect audio from tv to receiver.Use the monitor out(audio) from tv to receiver .The tv will only put out left/right audio .Also when using the audio out from Sony tv sometimes you cannot use both the internal speakers from tv and audio out from tv to receiver at the same time..Make sure audio is set up on TV menu for audio out..

I have a wonderful picture, but no sound

Assuming you do not have it muted...Hey I dont know what you or someone else has done :)

However if you are sending the audio signal out through the proper channels and or have this connected to a surround reciever and have it set to TV, AUx or whatever your system requires.

Without getting to basic asking if you made sure R is R and L is L, or red to red, white to white, etc...

I will say that I have often found that there is a switch on the back of these projection sets, which needs to be flipped.

Sometimes it is called ant [ ] but all that you'll see there is a switch.

For some models, I've learned it redirects audio output to be routed through cable or sattelite systems (chan 3 or 4 situation), even if the audio is being routed back through the TV and not out to a surround system. You may be able to locate it on the back panel of the Set, usually nearest the bottom of the case.

There are other factors that could be the cause, but they could be dependant on the make and model year of the TV. Such as secondary audio, PIP among other options.

Hope you found something useful in this and hopefully you can come back and let us know what you found as it may be useful in helping others with a similar situation

Good Luck

Have you gone through your onkyo receivers setup manual. You will most likely need to adjust the settings on your Onkyo receiver. I also have an onkyo reciever and I have to assign the inputs to the video source. Being that you got sound out of the front speakes. I am assuming when you were playing out of the dvd player your reciever was only on stereo sound. Once I get feedback I can assist you further

I have audio cables going from HD 61g887 jvc tv, to my phillips surround sound system under aux but it is not giving me sound?

you didn't mentioned the model number of your surround sound system, for a better solution its important. any why try the following.

if you are connected the analog audio output of your tv to the system using RCA cable, then go to the setup of the surround sound system and change the input assignment setting from digital to analog.
If your connected the digital output of your tv to the digital input of your surround system using optical cable then, goto the setup of your surround system and change the input assignment to digital (optical) input.

if u need any further assistance fell free to contact through fixya

I want to hook a system

you will only be able to get digital surround( dolby digital ) from your dvd player( by the coax or optical digital connections ) , the rest will only be in virtual surround

from the dtv box plug the yellow video jack(RCA) into the vcr video input , then plug the audio jack or jacks into the audio input on the vcr. from the vcr hook the audio out to the audio in on the reciever( tv/vcr/sat... input ) , then also connect RF out from the VCR to RF in on the TV .
for the dvd player hook the "s-video out" to the "s-video in" on the tv , then the audio L and R on same s-video input , then send the audio out connection on tv to L and R input on reciever dvd L and R input , then you will need to connect the optical from the dvd player to the reciever or coax connections for the dolby digital on the reciever to work

My HD only works on my video setting, but I have no sound

Ok so the sound is fine on all of the other sources,
The component is running from the cable box to the amp, and you can see it.
just take the audio Red/Whit RCA out of the cable box, and input it to Cable/TV or whatever its labled, Red White, RCA.

If you want surround, then you will have to go Coaxial((single orange RCA) or TOS out of the cable box to the Digital input on the AMP. When you use this instead of Red White RCA, your amp will automatically switch between the different types of surround depending on what the source calls for or is encoded in.

You may have to get into the amps menu and change that amps input to Digital/Coax/TOS for the surround sound.

Any more specific questions, I need the model #s.

No sound

I suppose you have a surround sound system that is now not functioning? They must have disconnected your audio out cables from your television to your surround sound system. Make sure your main audio out channel on your television is connected to AV1 in on your surround sound system. It is probably an RCA cable (red and white). Then when you play your TV, make sure the audio is set on AV1 for your surround sound system by pressing the function button until AV1 is on the display. Let me know if this helps.

No Audio Out to Stereo Reciever

First have you went in menu and check audio to see if you are on the variable audio or external output? Check to see if this makes a different with audio jack hookedup correctly of course!
