There are different formats of DVD's. Not all will play on all DVD playersdvd m/c tells me disk is not readable - 2.gif. I am copying a part of an article that better explains it and will include the link to the whole article so you can read it. If this doesn't make any sense to you please let me know and I will try to explain it more fully for you. Now on to the explanation......

With so many different formats — DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-RAM, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD-ROM — how do users know which DVD format is compatible with their existing systems, and why are there so many different formats for DVDs? The following information sheds some light on DVD's different flavors, the differences between them and the incompatibility issues that the differing technologies have sprouted.
Why So Many DVD Formats?
The crucial difference among the standards is based on which standards each manufacturer adheres to. Similar to the old VHS/Beta tape wars when VCRs first hit the markets, different manufacturers support different standards. Often called a format war, both the industry and consumers are still waiting to see which format will emerge as the industry standard.
Plus or Minus - What's The Difference?
The different variations on the term DVD (e.g. +R, -R, -ROM, and so on) describe the way data is stored on or written to the disc itself. These are called physical formats.

It's not reading cd, or DVD

Check for scratches on the disk surface - these can inhibit the player from reading a disk correctly.

Some players will read olny certain type(s) of disks. This is an issue mostly for disks created on a computer, not those that are prerecorded and available for purchase or rental that contain movies and music.

As stated above, dIsks created on a home computer may not always be readable on a home player. Re-writeable and recordable types that are not listed as being compatible will not work. Check your manual to see which types are acceptable and not. DVD types are: DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW and DVD-RAM CD Types are CD-R, CD+R and CR-RW. Older home CD and DVD players generally work with "-R" types and the newer players with both "-R" & "+R" types. "-RW" and "-RAM" types are the least likely to be readable in home players.

Additionally, most players require that disks created on a home computer be "finalized". This is an extra step that isn't required by most CD / DVD drives in computers. Just because it works in your computer doesn't mean it will work in your home player. If you're using compatible media and still not able to read disks, check your CD / DVD recording software options to enable finalization.

Good luck!

Perform a compatibility check of the Disk DVD whether the computer is capable of reading the media type. Usually, disks movies are readable on DVD players, computer game Disks on computer drivers, and game in Disks on game consoles. Observe the disk to acquire the detail requirements of what type of decoder device is capable of display.

A DVD rom driver can read DVD disks only. DVD Recorded, DVD ReWritable disks cannot be read on the DVD rom driver. Acquire an external DVD RW driver to make possible any recorded digital formats readability.

check your drive spesc - it can't not compatible with some disks, there are many formats: DVD-R, DRD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW.
some disk recoder applications can leave open sessions and it makes disk readable only on the same drive where it was burnt

Not reading dvd r or rw as writable disk

It sounds like you are having issues with all DVD writable disks. From the specs I was able to find online about your DVD writer, DVD+RW discs may not be compatible with the the drive. Make sure you are using DVD-RW (note the minus instead of +). I think you might need to reinstall your DVD drivers. This should solve the issue.
